I've never been all that into bumper stickers, but I've been thinking of getting a couple of Thompson stickers.
Anyhow, I drive a FS pickup, and I suspect a lot of FReepers do too. Recently, I saw one of those "wrapped" cars - a vehicle with advertising wrapped all over it. I think it was for an energy drink or something.
I put the two together in my brain. Was wondering if a tailgate-sized political bumper sticker would be cost-effective, especially once we get down to one or two candidates.
The only downside I can find would be the cost, but there are a lot of upsides:
- Conservatives tend to own vehicles with tailgates compared to liberals. Can't fit much copy on the back of a Prius/Pius compared to the tailgate of a F150.
- Tailgates have lots of space for both slogans and some detailed arguments. Can probably fit a much info as a billboard and the audience will be typically be in front of that copy for at least a minute or two.
- While bumper stickers are generally ignored, its difficult to ignore a full-color tailgate if you're the guy behind the pickup.
I'm not in a position to do something like this, but I thought I'd toss the idea out there for consideration. I have a FS Sierra - if someone wants to run with this for Thompson or Hunter, I'd sure be interested in donating the space at the back of my truck.
Ideally, if one of the candidates could put out something like this and we could buy it, I'd sure be interested.
I think, What difference does it make? Is seeing a sticker on your car going to change anyone’s vote? I doubt it.
The only stickers I have on my car are for the NRA and hunting. I’ve been told that seeing that a nicely-dressed and mostly sane little blonde lady belongs to the NRA makes people do a double-take. They often ask me about it, so this gives me a chance to educate them about guns and gun-owners’ rights.
Other than that, though, political stickers in my area are just an occasion for getting one’s vehicle damaged by fair-minded, tolerant liberals.
Carolina will do better next year. The success of the ACC is tied directly to the success of Carolina and NC State. They have to do well to make the ACC a quality conference. You both have good coaches and good young talent.
The ACC really screwed the pooch when they aligned the teams. It should have been.
Virginia Tech
Virginia
NC State
North Carolina
Wake Forest
Duke
in the same division. The old heavyweights (Clemson, Miami, FSU) wanted to be split up but they are going into hard times. The future is in the heart of those teams
“Ask me about microwaving cats for fun and profit.”
ROFL!
I’ve never seen that one. I see lots of these in my area...
Lose your Kitty? Check my tire treads.
Two weeks ago I visited friends in Philly...on the way back, I got lost and ended up in Cherry Hill, across the Delaware. The drivers there were nuts. Perhaps I should have covered up the Fred Thompson bumper sticker?
Never said they would. Never said they caused the Credit Bubble. Never said Republicans caused the Credit Bubble.
Irresponsible behavior by slimy lender on both sides of the political fence and idiotic behavior by borrowers on both sides of the political fence caused the Credit Bubble fiasco.
Our side is the side that will give your children and grandchildren a REAL future.
My side is common sense business practices that got me through this Credit Bubble mess without losing a dime.
Politicians had absolutely nothing to do with it.
It seems to be getting blatant out there. Have you seen this?

Add me to the list of the ignorant.
I had “Guns don’t kill people, I kill people” but my mom made me take it off.
Also “God gave us cats so we’d have something to shoot when we run out of squirrels.”
I never get a break when I’m caught speeding anyway.
Did both women have the same vanity plate?
Only one of the two was blonde... the young one.
Good idea.
Will you marry me?
Oh wait. You’re probably too sane to do that...
Well, here in Atlanta I saw a pick-up with the tailgate down and a GINORMOUS sign against the back of the cab about Ron Paul’s kooky r3vo7ution.
I also see homemade signs about Paul hanging on overpasses.
I saw a Kucinich bumper sticker on the back of a stop sign at an intersection...
I guess if I supported Kucinich I wouldn’t put it on my car either!
Incidentally where I work I didn’t put a Bush sticker on my car for fear of vandalism.
Depends. Will you promise not to borrow my power tools?
You are doing this to me on purpose, aren’t you?
