I bet that stupid mother still has her son in government school. (It's hard to give up the free babysitting addiction.) Yes, she does. My "stupid" (your words, not mine) friend is a single mom who has been diagnosed with terminal cancer. She does not have the capability to homeschool right now, and does not have the financial resources to send her sons to a private school. She is also one of the most honest and caring people I know.

Gang of some kind? Wouldnt surprise me. Nope. One kid harassing the boy, they were arguing and one of the harasser's friends sucker punched the boy. He hit him back and a melee ensued. Since he was taught to fight in part by his brother who is a Marine, the kid basically kicked butt until his opponents were rescued by the staff.

Extreme religions can be abusive--and not just to children. However, in this time, school indoctrinatiion is the biggest abuser of children.

I haven’t read Paradise Lost, but then I’m seldom seen pontificating about the need to destroy the foundation of Western civilization as Dawkins is. :-)

^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^
I am very sorry about your friend.
How old is this child? Can he read? If the child can read, homeschooing is possible. And,,,Often institutional schooling is more aggravation and work than homeschooling. Hey! Look at the confrontation with school over this attack, and then there is homework, and projects, to supervise as well.

I must be missing something here folks, maybe you can help out:
I didn't think God 'sent' anyone to Hell, always took it that you went to Hell if you didn't accept God and not because 'he' chose it as an option.

Again,
There are those who like telling others they are being sent to hell by their big ole buddy God.
Makes the feel strong and powerful.
For some parents, it’s the ultimate threat.

You asked what God does,
I haven’t a clue.
I do however know what parents and people say...
And do....
If I were God, I’d get a better PR staff ;)

Not much to elaborate on.
See the war on smokers, gamblers, alcohol(or, insert any other behavior you happen to find inappropriate. In this case, it’s religious belief, which is what CSM was pointing out.)
Tell me how many of the above examples you think should be eradicated.
(From what I know, the religious right thinks they all should be. That's the chicken.) Now, take those examples, and apply them to anything that needs to be “controlled”. (Generally, behavior, in cases such as we have listed, including religious beliefs. That's the roost.)

100% correct. I’ve said for years, the ‘religious right’ has been the ‘useful idiot’ or unwitting tool of the nazis/socialists in this country for years, perhaps decades.

Don’t worry, I’m sure she knows what she’s doing. Her grown sons are outstanding citizens. I will suggest it to her, however.

When it comes to knowledge about God Richard Dawkins suffers from Dunning-Kruger effect Most definitely! And unlike Dawkins I'll admit my ignorance and tell you I had to go to Wikipedia and look that up. :-)
