Huckabee Attack Ad Runs Anyway
Newsweek ^ | January 3, 2008 | Brooks Jackson

Analysis Former Arkansas Gov. Mike Huckabee raised eyebrows Dec. 31 when he told reporters at a news conference that he had decided not to run an attack ad calling rival Mitt Romney "dishonest," then ran it in front of reporters and TV cameras anyway. Now it turns out that the ad actually appeared on at least three Iowa TV stations that same day.

According to the Campaign Media Analysis Group of TNS Media intelligence, the ad appeared Dec. 31 on WHBF-TV and KLJB-TV in Davenport and on KCRG-TV in Cedar Rapids. The ad ran once on each station. We will update this count as data for later dates becomes available. When we contacted the Huckabee campaign for an explanation, a representative expressed surprise to hear the ad had been on the air. We'll update this with any explanation we receive from the campaign.

My prediction from 12/31:

Huckabust

Posted by keepitreal to LibFreeOrDie On News/Activism 12/31/2007 3:17:38 PM PST · 25 of 149

Huckabee from the press conference: “I told my staff I do not want it to be run. If it is run at all, it will only be until the stations can get it off of their schedules.”

And tomorrow, he can state how disappointed he was that certain stations weren’t able to pull the ads soon enough.

Huckabee lied...and the ad hasn’t died.

No doubt he’ll be sure to show the ad again during the press conference in which he explicitly states he doesn’t ever want the ad to appear in public again, and that he was sorry it showed at all.

How can people possibly be supporting this sham man?
I just don’t get it. He is a travesty to Christianity.
He literally makes me ill.

I never was impressed by this guy in the first place, but the more I find out about this guy, the less I like him.

As I recall, Huckabee said at the press conference that it was probably too late to pull the ad from a couple of stations but that the request had been made. No lies here Bubba.

You should see a counselor. That’s not natural.

Totally agree! I didn’t know him from a hole in the ground until he made that underhanded “Don’t Mormons think Jesus and the devil are brothers” snipe at Romney. I realized then he’s just another bigoted evangelical trying to promote himself as “the real Christian” (nudge, nudge, wink, wink). Everything I’ve read, seen, heard from Huckabee since then has made me sick.

The Huckster is nothing but a back-slapping good-old-boy Baptist preacher in WAY over his head. As Peggy Noonan said, Huckabee is not a reasonable choice for President.

I am glad I am who I am. No counselor needed.
Flagrantly misleading and dishonest people make me sick. I would hope that would be a natural reaction for most people.
I would hope that they would have the same effect on you too.
If not maybe you should see the counselor.
But thanks for caring.

Bubba?!

Freudian slip there. Particularly when you think about spinning for Huckabee on this issue in the context of the other Bubba from Hope - sounds like the meaning of "is" all over again.

I am sad for people who are fooled by this lying sack.

Millions of people are Christian. Not each one is fit to be President.

Was this before or after he proceeded to show it to the press himself? Cut me a break.

Huckabee’s going to come out of Iowa stronger than ever. His critics have singed every hair on his fanny and I predict he’s going to surprise folks tonight.

Keep up the absurd attacks. The American people are looking for a good underdog to take on the status quo. That’s the story that’s coming out of Iowa, like it or not.

Obama and Huckabee will be big winners.
