Juan Williams is on Fox News expressing astonishment that Obama, a Black man, has won Iowa, a white state.

I have renewed respect for Williams after reading My Grandfather's Son by Clarence Thomas.

I'm not astonished--or even surprised. Americans--to their credit--have risen above the horrifying racism of the past. And moreover, in today's dangerous world, we have far more important things to worry about! Nevertheless, I agree with Juan that it is a happy milestone.
