We don't have to be religious to justify defeating Islam. There are so many practical and constitutional reasons. We don't want Shari'a law, which to them trumps all our laws, we don't want honor killings, and we don't want concessions all over the place to have prayer rooms and foot washers and minarets blasting out Arabic 5 times a day. We don't want an ideology that encourages the submission of us, the infidels, or else. We don't want any part of the ideology that commits the vast majority of suicide bombings, hijackings and assassinations.

Of course, if we were more religious, we might more easily see these things.

I never said anything about secularism or atheism. What I said is that the resistance to Islam is not necessarily dependent on any religion.

If you want to view it as a religious war, with both sides yelling God is great, that is your privilege.

This is the core of the connection between radical islam and marxism. marxism seeks to undo all existing social conditions and structures, most definitely including religion. That project being well under way, they and the barbarians will make a deal on the order of the Ba'athist party, while the impotent, secularized "multi-culti" west lies supine.
