New license plate celebrates Alaska's 50th
Anchorage Daily News ^ | January 4th, 2008 | BETH BRAGG

Gov. Sarah Palin unveiled a new Alaska license plate Thursday, kicking off a year of promised fun leading up to the 50th anniversary of statehood.

It's simple and straightforward. No grizzly bears or totem poles like the 1976 and 1966 plates, considered the best ever by many. No tiny ant-like creatures strung along a mountain like the 1998 plate, considered dreadful by many.

It's got the Big Dipper, a small silhouette of snow-covered peaks, a gold background, blue letters and, at the bottom, the words "Celebrating statehood 1959-2009."

One more excuse to post a pic of America's most popular governor.
I've seen talk of her as VP.

Sara ran as a Republican, acts like a Democrat.

Bigger govt, more taxes, more give-a-aways, pork for ‘her’ special interests and so on.

However, given what else was running, she was the least painful fro many to vote for - this time.

But, that’s just me.

Sarah had my vote, my money and my support for Gov. In her first year she has been a huge disappointment. She has allied with the socialist dems here to raise taxes on oil, increased the size of government, and run off potential gas development in a way that would make any democrat proud. I am starting to think we would have been better off with Tony Knowles who would at least continued a sane effort to bring gas development here. At least we knew he was a socialist big gov type.

run off potential gas development

TransCanada is the only proposal for North Slope gas left as of today.
