CASPER, Wyoming: Mitt Romney's attention to Wyoming paid off Saturday as he won most of the 12 presidential delegates at stake in the state's Republican county conventions. The former Massachusetts governor won six of the first eight to be selected Saturday. Fred Thompson, the former Tennessee senator and actor, and California Rep. Duncan Hunter, who both also visited Wyoming, won one apiece, meaning no other candidate could beat Romney. Caucuses were still meeting.

If I were to treat this like others treated Huckabee and his supporters, I’d start saying that Wyoming Republicans were stupid voters. I’m not going to do that. They like the guy Romney pretends to be. That doesn’t make them stupid, just too trusting.

“Wyoming Republicans also paid a price for jumping ahead. The Republican National Committee has slashed half of Wyoming’s 28 national convention delegates. National party leaders similarly penalized Florida, Michigan, New Hampshire and South Carolina for moving up the dates of their nomination contests.”

Seems to kill the one person one vote rule since Wyoming voters are know only getting 1/2 vote.

Romney’s quite popular out West, but I’m beginning to think he’s all style, no substance.

You can do things in the primary that you can’t do in the general election. Good point, though.

Is there anyplace where we can get actual percentages of vote count from each state, or does the WY caucus only report delegates won, and that’s it?

NH is when the Revolution really takes off, and Paul has the cash to compete through Super Tuesday.

He did satisfactory in IA and I'll admit he got his ass handed to him in WY. But this is a marathon, not a sprint, and as a former track star who won the PA state championship for track in the early 1950s, Paul knows all about marathons.

I’ll admit, Romney is quite the used car salesman. If anyone else when from hard core leftist, to hard core conservative in the span of 24 months, he would be laughed off the ballot. I also, suspect the good folks of Wyoming have bought the media dismissal of the two actual conservative candidates in the race.

>>>If I were to treat this like others treated Huckabee and his supporters,

Well it sure helps Romney that he didn't go out of his way to personally piss Rush Limbaugh off.

What I find interesting is that the way some Evangelicals have been treating the Mormon guy in Iowa. I made calls for Romney and a few Huck supporters specifically said they would not vote for him based solely upon his Mormonism. Now they are the ones claiming victimhood. I guess it's like Michner said. When the guilty go to great lengths to portray themselves as innocent and put upon. I'd vote for a good Evangliecal in a second (and I have). However I won't vote for the Huckster. On Hannity yesterday he claimed he would build the fence in less time than any one else. In the speech for him at Caucus in Sioux City which I attended his representative said in his speech for Huck that he is the only candidate to support the Federal Marriage Amendment. It was an obvious lie aimed at lowering support for Romney. His dirty politics worked but Romney was still able to cut into his base. He wasn't able to cut into Romney's base. Which is why he is doomed.

If the Evangelicals would have put up a conservative candidate most of the Pubbies would vote for them in a second. What you are claiming would be like Mormons running Harry Reid President and then complaining when Pubbies wouldn't vote for him.

I would agree. But let me offer another defense of Wyoming voters. Many candidates ignored them. Hey, if you ignore voters you get what you get. Romney didn't ignore them (I would argue that he hasn't been honest with them either...but...). This is not all that complicated. If you want to represent people the time to start talking to them is BEFORE they vote.

Paul didn't do too bad actually,,,,considering he did just as well as Rudy's impressive numbers (even with Rudy's incredible name recognition that most candidates could only dream of)!

Their performance shows what real conservatives think of BOTH of them.....lol

Well, Mormons only make up about 10% of Wyoming's population. BUT, that being said, as the on-the-ground from Iowa demonstrated, they are also VERY good at turning out and voting en bloc for their candidate Mitt. Turnout means more than just about anything else, especially in the primaries.

I didn't know Hale-Bopp was in range.

Well, as long as you're neutered and wearing Nikes, you might as well give it a shot.

You might be right. God might be responsible. Our drifting from conservative principles could be causing him to visit the plague of liberal RINO’s on our houses.
