Actually, in a clintonian sense, he was telling the truth or some semblance thereof. You see, he never said the word amnesty himself. He just presented video of other people saying it (several times).

It was smart to call it amnesty but it was short-bus stupid to send out 10,000 fliers calling it that and then go on TV and say you didn’t.

Just like John Kerry, Mitt has flip-flopped himself into a footnote of history.

Actually, I don’t think Romney’s fibbing. He’s probably referring to this ad, which more directly relates to the issue of illegal immigration than the ad you posted:

Here he just states that illegals get to stay permanently under McCain’s plan and that they he voted to give them social security for illegal work.

Both those statements are true.

The video posted above is just an amalgamation of complaints against John McCain. It’s no doubt an oversight by Romney. As for the wording of his ads, I’m sure Romney was a lot more concerned about it in the ad where he directly compares his own positions v. those of Senator McCain’s.
