Free Republic Voting Thread: 2007 Today's Toons Favorites (Final Round)

The preliminary round went pretty well. The voting reduced the 180 items in that round to the remaining 40 (included ties) listed in random order below. As it turned out, any item that received less than 11 votes was eliminated. 3 items received no votes at all.

There are some "rules" here, but not many. When selecting your favorites, use your own criteria. Some like funny, clever, pithy, touching, etc. Some like cartoons, photoshops, animations, etc. So, judge each entry unto itself. As the one who adds click-on audios, videos, pics, toons to existing entries, I judge these to be part of that entry as a whole...you, of course, can ignore that if you wish...but only at your own peril ;-)

Each entry is numbered (1-40). Your mission, if you choose to accept it, is to send me (via comment in this thread/FReepmail/e-mail) the numbers in order of preference of your 10 (or less, if you can't find 10 that you like) favorites. If you are caught sending more than 10, I won't disavow your existence, but will ask you to remove any excess. This offer will self-destruct at 7 PM ET, Sunday, January 13, 2008. Scoring will be as follows: A 1st-place vote will get 10 pts., a 2nd-place vote earns 9 pts., ..., down to a 10th-place vote getting 1 pt. Good luck!

If certain pics/toons don't download (even after a refresh/reload), send me their numbers (which will show up) & I'll try to help. The detailed results of this final vote will be posted on Monday, January 14, 2008. The decision of the judge (Today's Toons editor-in-chief) is final! Questions? Bring it on! P.S. If you'd like to inquire about possibly helping with the Best Of 2008, FReepmail me ASAP & I'll tell you what would be involved. A few of you were disappointed that some of your favorite cartoons didn't make it into the preliminary round; here's your chance to make sure that this doesn't happen again...so speak now or forever hold your peace!!

It’s interesting to see how all of our senses of humor differ so much.

I learned that first hand with the Best Of 2005 thread. I'll try to make this short.

I was asked to do a Best Of 2005 on about Dec. 15, 2005!! Had to go back, at that point, to all toons for the year (we have a few monthly voters now). Had some help for maybe 7 months worth & made all other picks on my own. Dozens of items that I liked got 0 votes in the preliminary round :-( In the prelim round of this (2007) thread, I was the only one to vote for 2 toons that I really liked :-(
