What the ...? A St. Louis-area town is considering a bill that would ban swearing in bars, along with table-dancing, drinking contests and profane music. City officials contend the bill is needed to keep rowdy crowds under control because the historic downtown area gets a little too lively on some nights.
City Councilman Richard Veit said he was prompted to propose the bill after complaints about bad bar behavior. He says it will give police some rules to enforce when things get too rowdy.
But some bar owners worry the bill is too vague and restrictive, saying it may be a violation of their civil rights.

Nannystate strikes again.
But, profanity and vulgar art will be encouraged! We’ve gone over the edge. The only way to get people back to common sense is a disaster, man made or otherwise.
No $hit?
Oh, how boring! I remember the good old days - dancing on the bar to profane music. Come to think of it, the proposal would ban family get togethers too. We love profane literature and songs!
I couldn’t believe it years ago when MA made it illegal to smoke in bars. Give it time — some state will make it illegal to drink hard liquor in a bar.
soon we will have more people in jails than we have outside of jails.
Is this one of those “rights” that the Left keeps telling us we’ve lost under George Bush?
It's for the "of age" chidrun. ; )
Does anyone remember that whole First Amendment thing?
Well $onofab!tch!!
The land of the free.
And the home of the brave.
Gotdandruffandsomeofititches.
Sorry!! *smacks head*
One step closer to Sharia law....
Now THAT is funny.
Some places in other states have already gone in and actually arrested folks for public intoxication in bars.
I have no problem with this since it is a private company and they can set their own policies.
Also, it turns out that pretty much the only people that cuss in a bar are those that are sloppy drunk. It's a good way of moving the drunks out without arguing over whether or not they can have another drink.
BTW, the food is great and the service is friendly, and their the only bar in Hermosa Beach with their own free parking.
Hello,
If you can find it, you should see the video of the Alderman that has proposed this stupid law. Scary, very scary...
