Last summer, the state of Vermont launched a commission to "review and evaluate Vermonts laws relating to same-sex couples and the families they form."
Family advocates, in turn, have formed the Vermont Marriage Advisory Council, which was launched at a Statehouse press conference this morning. Stephen Cable, founder of Vermont Renewal, said the council was formed in response to the pro-gay leanings of the state commission.
"The council will be holding forums to delegate information on the social goods that come with the institution of marriage," Cable told The Times Argus of Montpelier, Vt. "After that, the council will open up the microphone to hear from Vermonters."
The Marriage Advisory Council's first "Marriage Matters" forum will be held Jan. 19 at the University of Vermont.
