IIRC, that hack dumps a copy of the entire unit’s memory to the USB drive.
That will do next to nothing. It isn’t this simple to hack a machine like that.
Oh yea, he sticks a USB key onto that board. Then what?
It’s just a stupid cartoon by a wannabe-idiot.
According to this site (http://gizmodo.com/gadgets/gadgets/how-to-steal-an-election-with-a-diebold-machine-200693.php), this “hack” will allow a user to load their own software into the machine. My guess is that the switch tells the MB to load software from whatever’s in the USB port.
Well, that's not surprising. When it comes to cheating, the rats know everything.
Try walking behind a machine with a screwdriver in your hand at my polling place and the charming, kindly little blue-haired ladies that run the show would beat you to death with their canes in a heartbeat.
You could do something analogous on a ATM machine. Banks do not seem to losing billions of dollars to hackers, quite the opposite, electronic funds seem to more secure than paper.
We all know that they are centrally controlled by Chimpy McBushenfuhrer.

Maybe someday people (in ALL parties) will realize that technology and progress isn’t always that wonderful... I don’t care how long it would take, nor how many tax dollars we’d have to shell out to get paper ballots that are hand-counted — seems like it would save all of us a lot of time, money, and agony in the long run, really...
Dems like the new machines - now we know why...

I don’t think it’s supposed to accomplish anything, might get some dumb people arrested. They say to take off the bottom of the machine, which means at least turning the machine on its side, and of course it’s going to be more than one screw holding the bottom on, so the whole operation will take a while and be rather noisy, I’m betting somebody will get suspicious.
I don’t know about anyone else, but if I saw anyone even trying to move a voting machine, I’d protest immediately and loudly, drawing as much attention as I could to them.
I think most would.
Where’s the pic of a laughing Karl Rove?
there seems to be a pattern in hand counted votes vs machine counted - and it favored Mitt and Clinton - Obama and Huckabee were the consistent losers when votes counted by machine.
Also some indication that the contractor for the machines has some felony arrests.
Take it for what its worth - not the most reliable site but there was also the discrepency with the exit polls and that seldom happens.

Here in Delaware, the machines vote for Democrats, regardless of how the voters vote.
