At one time, for a few brief hours, I was the only person on earth who knew how to make the brightest LEDs ever seen... At one time, for a few brief microseconds, a colleage of mine knew how to make the brightest LED ever seen...

Just so long as they arent BLUE! After one bad experience, if you want to sell me any non-incandescent bulb I will want to see the bulb in action so I can see how I perceive the spectrum first. I am all for more efficient lighting, but if the phosphors are not correct, the light is a painful hue.

I disagree. We cut our electric bill almost in half by using fluorescent bulbs.

Unfortunately, that bulb and other LED “household bulbs” are presently getting horrible reviews.

$40.20(60 bulbs at 67¢ each) vs $34.95 60 bulbs X 10 minutes each change = 10 hours
10 hours of your PERSONAL time is worth what?

There are LED bulbs that can replace a standard 60watt light bulb. Unfortunately, they cost about $30 each, so unless the price starts to drop drastically, these bulbs will not be able to compete against the CFL bulbs the enviro-wackos are currently pushing.
