I’m not giving up my kerosene lamp for nobody until they pry it from my dead, cold, lightless hands.....
That way there is no electricity wasted just reheating the water in the tank.
I’ll literally believe it when I see it. In the meantime, I’m stocking up on 100 watt incandescents at 40-cents each.
But do you want blue-hue lights all over your house?
Doesn't feel very warm, sweet and cozy.
The only ones that I can find use gas cannisters.
All I know is that the LED Christmas lights made my whole family sick. We had to move them outside. They are hideous.
The reviews I’ve read say the “household bulb replacement” LEDs are just not there yet, even less so than compact fluorescents.
I love the LED flashlights and utility lights (Surefire, Nuwai, and my trusty Petzl Tikka headlamp), they all have their place and are great.
But I’ll keep buying 200 watt and 250 watt three way incandescents for reading for as long as they’re legal (!?! legal ?!?!).
I agree. I’m happy that LED technology is being domesticated at a time when it is politically correct to trumpet dirty fluorescent light technology, regardless that fluorescent technology is more efficient than incandescent lighting.
But, but, but, they said invest in the mercury bulbs. Watch to see who tells you LED’s cause cancer, birth defects, and retardation.
GO LED’s
Smaller, brighter, prettier and less expensive! Isn't technology wonderful! This 18 LED light bulb makes an excellent high definition reading light. Perfect to help you not feel guilty about leaving an accent light on all night. Run it for twelve hours a day for a whole year at a cost of about 80 cents. This LED light bulb should last about 10 years, and works well with a dimmer switch. Your choice of 120 or 12 volts bulbs available.
YOUR PRICE: US $34.95$
If the bulb lasts the claimed 60,000 hours vs 1,000 of the common bulb...
$40.20(60 bulbs at 67¢ each) vs $34.95
Cost of Electricity of 60,000 hours at 10¢ per kWh:
Common bulb 3600 kWh=$360.00 vs 120 kWh=$12.00 LED bulb

Say what?
Thanks!
Ease your fears. I’ve seen ‘em. I’ve even got a headlamp that has 18 LEDs in it that turn on in levels: 2/6/18,,and even the setting with two LEDs is bright enough for most getting around in a blackout. The 18 Setting is very bright. and it runs on 3 AAA batteries. Supposedly, with only 2 LEDs being used, it’ll last over a 100 hours. It’s what they used to make the new New Years Ball with. I wouldn’t buy f;ourencents ,unless the DemoCommies made sure that was all that was available, but i’d happily buy LED “bulbs”. But they need to work on shading and diffusing the intense bright white, to make them more palatable as lamp bulb replacements, IMO. But I figure that’ll come in time anyways.
The light is obnoxious and it flickers.
I can see their creepy inspectors going though my house with mercury detector equipment just so I can pass government regulations necessary to sell a house.
I have been wondering if those things really work. When you get one, please FReepmail me and tell me how you like it.
LOL, they put a lot of money in these slow to come on, humming, dull till warmed up, horrible bulbs:
They will not go down without a fight.
Coleman Lantern, white gas, pump up model. About $49.You can get stoves too.
I still see Colemans at Wal-Mart's in the states- we bought a couple more a few hurricane scares ago.
