Those who have been elected to either Congress or a statewide office. The same credentials that Ron Paul has or more, more than Alan Keyes or Hugh Cort.

That's sounds like a reasonable standard, but it would exclude Giuliani. It also would have excluded Dwight Eisenhower in 1952.

My main point, though, is that there has to be a line somewhere; once that's accepted it becomes a matter of where to draw it. But the concept of having a standard is clearly valid.

“There should be some knuckles bared tonight. Fred should be coming out swinging, and McCain and Huck will be sure to double-team Romney.”

I think McCain and Romney will tagteam on Huckster, actually.

Huckablah will try to aw, shucks his way through the debate.

I would try to rile up McCain...he will make mistakes that way...I've never seen Huckabee riled up (confused doesn't count), so I think any direct attacks on him will turn in any number of populist speeches that Huckabee has at his fingertips, which his voters Like.

Thompson will have to get his votes from McCain. Huck's aren't going anywhere...

I kind of expect McCain, Romney, and Huckabee to come out swinging at Thompson, hoping to knock him out for the count.

Giuliani, love him or hate him, can be a really irritating sob, can’t he?

If conservatism can't win SC, if Huckleberry and McCain get more votes than Fred in SC, I'll be very disappointed.

Tonight, Fred needs to communicate succinctly to the Huckleberry Heads the clear benefits of conservatism.

It’s a wide open race without a clear GOP front runner thus far. Why exclude Duncan Hunter?

Because there needs to be a threshold somewhere and while it is wide open, there is zero chance it is going to Hunter. Fox is totally justified in keeping him out. Sorry your favorite guy didn't make the cut, but I'm sure you can understand why.

Not sure he will go after McCain.
Huckabee and Romney are the more likely targets, IMHO.

And Rudy’s ‘right turn.’

Rudy will nominate strict constructionists, no question. The problem is, he says under his definition a strict constructionist could vote to uphold Roe.

I think Mitt is solid on judges.
