He has NOT been “less than enthusiastic”. Maybe you should do some research instead of having it spoonfed to you.

He has been doing upwards of 5 campaign events on many days.

I’m sorry but my impression is based on what I have seen and heard from him, in past debates and (broadcasted) appearances.

Maybe the sin is one of omission in the coverage, but I can only formulate an opinion on the evidence that I am presented with (from the man, not his supporters).

If I were you Fredheads, and I would go scorched earth right now, go for broke.

We fredheads? What about you? This isn't about Fredheads or Hunter friends, this is about the "soul of the Republican party." Buchanan and others are calling the Reagan coalition dead. Others are calling to redefine conservatism. Why? Because the MSM built up squish republicans in name only, and two liberal states did exactly what the MSM told them they would do? Wyoming didn't, they voted for a fake conservative and two real conservatives. South Carolina is not just the line in the sand for Fred Thompson, it is the line in the sand for conservatism. Either we belong to a party, or we're just useful stooges. Either this is our party - the party that elected Reagan and defeated the Soviet Empire - or we've lost the party to a divergent group of liberals who want the conservative mantle to redefine it to whatever they think will get them power. We make that stand here - Fred Thompson is just the vehicle - to make it clear who controls the party. I'm not there, so I'm sending my money. I donated $250 after last Sunday's debate, and I am going to give more today. Conservative to the bitter end - I reward good performance!

your cynicism is very common on FR.

I guess both of us are to be blamed for that, huh?

It’s this “How many soundbites can I make in 1:30” style of debate that promotes the candidates to do what they do.

I agree. It's better if the participants are given more time to speak

Although Reagan made good use of some brief opportunities...

REAGAN:

I will not make age an issue of this campaign. I am not going to exploit for political purposes my opponent's youth and inexperience. If I still have time, I might add, Mr. Trewhitt, I might add that it was Seneca or it was Cicero, I don't know which, that said if it was not for the elders correcting the mistakes of the young, there would be no state.

” Huckabee and Thompson are largely competing for the same votes.”

Lets assume that Romney loses in MI. Look at Romney and you have a guy who SAYS all the right conservative things. Those conservatives who don’t like him are conservatives who don’t BELIEVE him because of his past actions and statements. Those Romney supporters in SC(and all the other states) are that because they DO believe him. Now Huck supporters in SC are for him not because he is a con but because he is a evangelical. His qualities aren’t going to attrack ex Romney supporters. McCain is seen as unreliably conservative, these qualities aren’t going to attract Romney supporters either or they would have already. These Romney voters who may see their candidate as down and out after MI are the votes available for the other candidates to pick up and they are there for Thompson to pick up. Not McCain, not Huckabee, and not Giuliani. Same goes for the rest of the south.

Amongst conservatives, it identifies the true conservative in the GOP field. For those who weren’t sure ast to who is the real conservative, this removes all doubt.

Apparently my picture didn’t last on the server.

It was a picture of two swans, intended to convey the message, “birds of a feather”.

Now Huck supporters in SC are for him not because he is a con but because he is a evangelical.

I am a Roman Catholic, and Huckabee is my distant #2 (after Fred), DESPITE his nannyism, because of life, guns, and I wouldn't mind tariffs on the Red Chinese. I know that Catholics are not plentiful in the deep south, but Wallace Democrats were not all Evangelicals, and many of them are choosing between Huck and Thompson.

I do not pretend to be a southerner, though I respect the south greatly (and maybe the best I can do for them is leave 'em alone.) But it might also be between Huck and Thompson for the same votes as they are both southerners.

Every time Fred does something I like, I send him $25. It's easy and when they look at what they did and when did the money come in they will know exactly what their "money where their mouth is" supporters respond to. ANYWAY, I sent in another $25 yesterday morning and from then to now it looks like the total is up another $200,000! PLUS they have raised the goal a quarter million to $750,000, and they are getting it too!

Fred appears to be fire in somebody's belly!
