Pro-Family Coalition, Mass. Leaders, Come to Michigan to Warn Voters (Romney's Anti-Family Record)

Two Press Conferences -- Saturday and Sunday

Contact: Peter LaBarbera, Republicans for Family Values, 630-546-4439; Brian Camenker, Mass Resistance, 617-835-1369; Amy Contrada, 617-306-3701

DETROIT, Jan. 12 /Christian Newswire/ --  Mass Resistance  (www.massresistance.org) and Republicans for Family Values (www.RFFV.org) will be holding two major press conferences today and tomorrow in Presidential candidate Mitt Romney's home state of Michigan to warn voters about the "real Mitt Romney," whose liberal, pro-homosexual record is a far cry from his pro-family campaign image.

First Press Conference ---
When: Saturday, January 12, 2008 - 1:30 p.m.
Where: Westin Detroit Airport Hotel, 2501 Worldgateway Place, Detroit, MI

Second Press Conference ---
When: Sunday, January 13, 2008 - 1:30 p.m.
Where: Amway Grand Plaza Hotel, 187 Monroe NW, Grand Rapids, MI

Massachusetts pro-family leaders Brian Camenker and Amy Contrada, who co-authored the online report, "The Mitt Romney Deception" (www.massresistance.org), will speak at the news conferences, joined by former homosexual Stephen Bennett and pro-natural-family advocate and RFFV founder Peter LaBarbera.*

LaBarbera notes that Romney recently endorsed homosexual special rights ("sexual orientation") laws for other states -- even though the array of "sexual orientation" laws in his own state of Massachusetts led to the imposition of homosexual "marriage" and "gay adoption."

"Mitt Romney's recent endorsement of pro-homosexual state laws on 'Meet the Press' shows that he still doesn't have his pro-family conversion story straight," LaBarbera said, "Of course, it disqualifies him as a pro-family leader."

One of the spokesmen for RFFV will be Stephen Bennett -- a FORMER homosexual man -- now married to his wife of 15 years and the father of the couple's two children.

Bennett is a former resident and taxpayer of Massachusetts. He now resides in Connecticut.

"As a conservative, and foremost a Christian man, I am going to Michigan with one purpose: to tell the truth about Presidential hopeful Mitt Romney. Do not be deceived -- Mitt Romney is the furthest thing from being a conservative, pro-family advocate. He in no way represents my pro-family, conservative views," said Bennett.

"Romney's record proves he doesn't deserve the office of President of the United States of America. However, there is one title I'll grant Mitt Romney: the 'Father of Gay Marriage.'"

Bennett continued, "As Governor of the State of Massachusetts, Mitt Romney illegally imposed so-called homosexual "marriage" licenses on the citizens of the Bay State -- after refusing to support a marriage-protection amendment years earlier (when he was courting the Log Cabin Republican homosexuals). In doing so, he opened a tragic Pandora's Box. What the courage-less Romney did in Massachusetts will affect our entire nation for years to come."

In Boston, following the imposition of "same-sex marriage," Catholic Charities' adoption services was forced to closed its doors after refusing to place children in homosexual-led homes. Due to pro-gay laws and policies in the Bay State, parents who believe homosexuality is morally wrong are chastised and one, David Parker, was even thrown in jail because he protested his six-year-old child's public elementary school's refusal to commit to inform parents about in-class lessons promoting homosexuality.

In then-Gov. Romney's Massachusetts, state employees were threatened with firings if they refused to accept Romney's unnecessary and illegal order to distribute 'gay marriage' licenses.

"And yet Romney has the audacity to now recommend these same oppressive pro-homosexual laws to other states?" Camenker said. "Mitt Romney is running for President as a pro-life, pro-family conservative, but we in Massachusetts know the REAL Romney -- and the liberal social record he tries to keep hidden from the public makes him a threat to American families and our nation's children if he is elected President."

Camenker and Contrada wrote the "Mitt Romney Deception," a devastating report documenting Romney's liberal record and flip flops on homosexuality, abortion and other issues.  Many conservatives are unaware of Romney's long pro-abortion and pro-homosexual record -- the latter which continues today with his recent endorsement on NBC's "Meet the Press" of state "gay rights" laws (see "Mitt Romney's Christmas Present to the Gay Lobby," at www.rffv.org).

*For identification purposes only, LaBarbera is also president of Americans For Truth about Homosexuality (www.americansfortruth.org)

The Romneyites might not like this, but it's the truth.

Yes it is! I was here when the curriculum and pictures, and evidence of all kinds, of what was going on in MA schools, and what his Youth Pride organization was really all about, were taken personally to Romney office. He had the good grace to appear shocked and saddened, etc. He promised to fix it, take care of it, etc. All that was done was to disband one organization, remove the word “Governor’s” from the name, and replace it with another more ominous one. NOTHING was done to stop the indoctrination in schools, or the teaching of perverse sexual practices to school children. That told me all I needed to know. The MA dept of Education was under him, all it did was given it a wink and a nod, and play both sides.

The courts had NO JURISTICTION to overrule him. They even plainly stated so in the court release. Per MA constitution, which is ignored in MA, his was the only office that had authority over marriage law.

Romney spent years pushing the homosexual agenda in Massachusetts, then came homosexual marriage and all he did was go through the motions of opposing.

On February 8, 2004 there was an anti-gay-marriage rally on the Boston Commons, 3000 people came and braved sub-freezing weather to petition their legislators to stop gay marriage. Mitt was NOT there. Nor did he send a message or representative.

For the four years that Romney was governor, the Massachusetts Family Institute led a coalition of 18 groups to collect 170,000 petitions asking the legislature to let the people vote on amending the state constitution to ban gay marriage and lobbied the State legislature to vote to allow the people to vote.

Mitt Romney never attended their Annual dinners, never helped them to raise funds and never made a personal donation. This, despite the fact that he was able to contribute over $18 million to his campaign to change jobs and become President and raise $6 million in one day for his effort to change jobs.

His many counter-productive moves to issue proclamations for Gay Pride day, appoint radical gay activists to his cabinet and other administrative posts as well as to the judicial bench are well documented.

In the 2004 legislative races, he told candidates not to talk about the gay marriage issue and campaigned for four Republicans who were for gay marriage.

On Friday May 11, 2006, Governor Romney’s office announced that they were going to close the Governor’s Council on Gay and Lesbian Youth at three o’clock in the afternoon. Before six O’clock that evening he changed his mind and decided that idea was wrong.

Mitt spent 212 days out of the state in 2006 campaigning for Republican Governors and making his pitch for a Presidential campaign.

Mitt Romney was pro-life in Utah then pro-choice in Massachusetts in 2002 but said he became pro-life in 2004 when he was learning about embryos at Harvard. Mitt decided an embryo was a human being and worth of protection. Unfortunately he changed his mind and now says it is OK to experiment on unwanted embryos if they can not be adopted.

On February 28, 2005 - after his pro-life conversion - Romney said: “I am personally pro-life. However, as governor I would not change the laws of the commonwealth relating to abortion.”

He did “change” health care in Massachusetts. His plan allows Planned Parenthood to have an ex-officio seat on the board, and allows for $50 co-pays for abortions. Two months before leaving office he approved over $5 million for building a Planned Parenthood abortion facility in Worcester.

Mitt Romney sat on the National Board of the Boy Scouts of America as one of 71 members. Mitt Romney said: “I feel that all people should be able to participate in the Boy Scouts of America regardless of their sexual orientation”

Brian Camenker lives in Newton, home to a large orthodox Jewish community, of which he is a part. I assure you, Newton is one of the most affluent towns in our state. There are no trailer parks there.

So, are you saying that the documented nonactions and missed opportunities of Mr. Romney vis-a-vis the homosexual agenda didn’t really (non)happen?

Are you saying that we should all pretend, contrary to fact, that WMR behaved otherwise out of fear of Huckabee?

If Romney couldn’t take the heat here, what sort of SCOTUS would be give us?

At a recent Romney event,
"My Mom and Dad are buried here," Romney told his audience, recalling his father, the late Michigan Gov. George Romney, and his mother, Lenore, a 1970 U.S. Senate candidate in the state.

If you're not successful Mitt, you'll be buried there too...

How could Mormons, who are known for being pro-family, support a candidate like this? Would republican Mormons vote for Mitt if his name was Harry Reid (a democrat Mormon?) What’s the difference?

This is about Romney’s voting record and not about his mormonism.

However, I see no difference in the wording: Mormon Bishop Willard Mitt Romney and Baptist Preacher Mike Huckabee.

If it is OK to say the one, then it is OK to say the other.

What do you all think? I’m not a Huck supporter, but he has been picked on in the press for his baptist background FAR more than Romney has for his mormon background.

Romney flip flops and did nothing to stop gay marriage in Massachusetts and Huckabee raised taxes, gave scholarships to the children of illegal aliens, supports amnesty and no wall. And while everone is focused on Romney and Huckabee, McLame may just sneak in and win.

The issue is to put a stake in their political hearts one at a time. First, Romney because he’s the most vulnerable, but also has the most money.

We’ll allow SCarolina to reject McCain. We’ll also work to blast Giuliani in Florida. Everyone knows that with his mistress, infidelity, hating family, and radical liberal record, that he hasn’t a prayer of winning the election.

With a Thompson win in SCarolina that gives Thompson the lead heading into the South.

Harry Reid has always identified himself as pro-life and Nevada was somewhat moderate to conservative when he was first elected. So, I have a feeling that a lot of Mormons DO help Reid get elected.

I think the better question is, would the Mormons all support Romney if he WAS NOT a Mormon?

You can bury your head in the sand if you wish, as can others who feel as you do. As people of conscience, we have forwarded the truth, so as far as folks like you, our job is done.

Burying heads in the sand should be left to ostriches, but if you want to join them, just do it and resist the urge to bash others who don’t.

These are the facts. This article is about men of character, most of whom know the Constitution inside out and backwards. People who are not about to cower in fear when an agenda tells them to be silence. Most rational realistic minded people are going to say God Bless them, and it’s high time we heard from someone, anyone, about the circumvention of the Constitution.

Further, Romney was on a talk radio program where he took calls. The show was saved and is available to listen to for yourself. Romney was asked why he illegally ordered clerks to issue licenses and ordered that marriage licenses to be altered to read “partner A and partner B”. Mr. Romney close to answer by claiming he fought the alteration of “birth certificates to make them read parent a and parent b.” A mistake? by a man of superior intelligence? Doubtful. Much more likely an attempt to skirt the issue, and not answer the question.

That claim is simply a cop out, a claim for the purposes to discrediting those opposed to his candidacy. There are not 100 people in the entire country who feel that. We have enough to deal with living with the repercussions of the Romney administration to even be concerned about what he believes in or doesn’t believe in.

This strange warped hatred of gay people is unbecoming of supposedly “pro life” people.

Do you people want Romney to kill gay people? Do you want him to allow hate mongers to discriminate against them? Do you want gay people to not have jobs? Do you want gay people to not go to school?

Romney is against discrimination in all its evil forms. And for that, he is being vilified on this thread.

The guy has a wonderful family - a long happy strong marriage - five sons and beautiful grandchildren.

I think you don’t even know why you hate him so much yourselves. To pull this deception - I should say TRY to pull this deception - it is beneath dignified, decent people.

I’m beginning to think Bill O’Reilly was right about Free Republic after all.
