BREAKFAST WITH THE TROOPS

The president began his day with a pancake breakfast with U.S. military personnel on a naval base in Bahrain, a close U.S. ally, hosts the U.S. Fifth Fleet. The President took the opportunity to visit the U.S. Naval Forces Central Command before departing Bahrain for Abu Dhabi, United Arab Emirates.

The President's gift was a chain of honor.

The President then gave a speech at the Emirates Palace hotel.

From his speech:

.... "A great new era is unfolding before us. This new era is founded on the equality of all people before God. This new era is being built with the understanding that power is a trust that must be exercised with the consent of the governed -- and deliver equal justice under the law. And this new era offers hope for the millions across the Middle East who yearn for a future of peace and progress and opportunity."
