Hillary issues memo: Plea for end to "Race" controversy
NRO The Corner ^ | 1-14-08

Posted on 01/14/2008 5:32:05 PM PST by Timeout

Just issued by her campaign:

“Over this past week, there has been a lot of discussion and back and forth - much of which I know does not reflect what is in our hearts.

“And at this moment, I believe we must seek common ground.

“Our party and our nation is bigger than this. Our party has been on the front line of every civil rights movement, women's rights movement, workers' rights movement, and other movements for justice in America.

“We differ on a lot of things. And it is critical to have the right kind of discussion on where we stand. But when it comes to civil rights and our commitment to diversity, when it comes to our heroes - President John F. Kennedy and Dr. King – Senator Obama and I are on the same side.

“And in that spirit, let's come together, because I want more than anything else to ensure that our family stays together on the front lines of the struggle to expand rights for all Americans.”

Well, no shinola!

Gee, who would have guess that she wants "more than anything else to ensure that our family stays together...".

I've never seen a more flagrantly self serving statement. She starts a fight, tries to draw Obama into attacking her, it blows up in her face, and SHE wants credit for ending it?!

If there were justice in the world the MSM would tell her she has to cry first. :)

Weren’t there more Republicans who voted for the 1964 Civil Rights Act than Democrats? I seem to remember that LBJ could not have passed it without GOP votes.

That is true. Most of the Southern Democrats were Conservatives and were not going to vote for that act, it took the Republicans to pass it and yet the Blacks seem to think the Rats have been their friends. Bet you money Robert Byrd voted against that act and yet as a Dem there is no criticism. Remember a few years back what he said on Fox News?????????????

Let’s go back a wee bit further in history.... to say, ooooohhhhh... 1860.

Abraham Lincoln was with which party again? The Democrats? Nope.

Which party fought emancipation and enacted the Jim Crow laws? The Democrats.

And the only former member of the KKK now in Congress is with which party? Oh yea... the Democrat Bobby Byrd, D-WV.

Note, too, that she chose to do this with having “her campaign” issue a memo. That rather diminishes the emotions she expresses therein.

Obama had the grace to make his response on camera.
