Well, no question, Helen Thomas is stuck on stupid. And ugly.
But it must be said that Bush has given her something to work with. What WAS the purpose of this trip? And if it had a purpose, isn’t it probably just as well that it seems to have failed?
Unless you figure that Bush is engaging in deep strategery, and that the peace effort was only a cover story, but the real purpose of his trip was to reveal just how nasty the Palestinians and the Saudis are.
But we already knew that, while the leftists will never admit it. To them, the Palestinians are a heroic, opppressed people abused by the mean Israelis. And therefore they believe, just as Helen says, that Bush is dumb for failing to help them get what they want.
How would she know he's "desperate"? Desperate applies to glory-hogs like Clinton. Clinton was driven by his legacy. He was and still is the greatest narcissist of all time. Liberals like Thomas don't understand that some people can be motivated by something other than themselves. She just assumes that if he's a president, he must be desperate for a legacy, as she would be. In Bush'e case, nothing could be further from the truth. Like the old adage we used to say as kids, "takes one to know one".

Amusing to hear Bush approval ratings the lowest ever in all history since harry Truman. sounds like the same number as for he past couple years, but it’s always the LOWEST EVER in all recorded history. The newsreader sounds like a freshman Poli-Sci or journalism major who of course wouldn’t remember anything past last weekend.
