How about an end to an overly romanticized, sanitized, fantasy history?

I don’t see the problem, the old people of South Carolina is dead !! The people that lives in SC today are mostly immigrants from up North/Illegal Immigrants and a few blacks that happen to hang around while times did not get any better.
If you don’t like the old flag in the state house just go get the old thing and burn it!!

No one is hiding anything. Tillman's racist past is in the history books for anyone to see.
What these people want is a disclaimer.
As far as shying away from shameful bits of our history, see post #8 and you might get an idea of why we do not change every historical monument according to political correctness or according to which way the wind is blowing today.
fyi, NOBODY in SC/dixie CARES what the denizens of "the LEFT coast" & the northeast think or "care about". further we southerners couldn't care less WHAT/IF you think/feel/desire "out there"/"up there" as long as you do not get ANY of our tax dollars for your "social programs", "environmentalist WHACKO ideas", etc,etc,etc.
if you want to "get along" as good neighbors SHOULD, keep your opinions to yourself. fyi, southerners just want you to go away & leave us ALONE.
