This is one of the most illuminating and fascinating bits of behind-the-scene clips of an anchor I have ever seen. It consists of snippets of Couric during broadcast breaks on the night of the NH primary. According to Harry Shearer (of Simpson's fame) this is Couric's first anchoring job on an election night. I'm not sure about that but this collection of moments is raw and eye-opening in regards to Couric's complete lack of knowledge on the very basics of the status of the key players in the primary fights. You can't expect an anchor to know everything but it is clear that Couric needs all the help she can get and needs some filling in on the most basic of facts that she surely reported on just nights before (the Obama surge shown in polls for example) and is a must see.

I agree. In fact I think the headline on Drudge was unfair. Other than a light bitch about the mic she was relatively likeable.

Katie is not a complete lightweight in regards to HOW she appears - she did Today for years so she has more broadcast time than others combined. But if you ever saw the movie "Broadcast News" she comes across as the William Hurt character - attractive and on-camera savy but lacking the most basic knowledge of the subjects they are reporting on.

If you had seen the whole thing you would have seen the complete feeding of basic facts she should already know. She confers with presumably her producers on how to make the coverage more dramatic, in essence showing an editorial instinct that happens to push the view to the left somewhat.

Anyhow - you didn't see the whole thing so why am I even trying to respond to your "stupid and illuminated nothing" viewpoint. I guess since you didn't see the whole thing - and in the parlance of your own post - "who f-in cares" about your opinion on the clip?

It sounded like, at first, she was pronouncing PentagOn as PentagEen. Could have been the “cold” I suppose.

Sorry. I thought the clip showed clearly that a big-time player in the left-leaning MSM, with 24/7 to learn about the biggest story of the year in progress, showed an amazing lack of knowledge on a subject she reports on daily. The News Anchor Empress Wears No Clothes.

A single word such as "dramatic" places a complete different emphasis on the story. I'm not even saying it is a wrong characterization - I'm just saying it illustrates the power of a word and the power of the person that has the last say in whether it is inserted/used or not.
