Coburn is the Senate leader as far as I am concerned against pork barrel/earmark spending. He is not your typical politician. Says what he believes and walks the talk.
To: JRochelle
Describing Tom Coburn as a ‘major endorsement’ tells me McCain is panicking again, just as he did in 2000.

Coburn is a brilliant man but this may come back to bite him in the butt in a few years. I always thought Coburn would make a great VP. Supporting a RINO like McAmnesty is going to be like a bad tattoo on his arm.

If you line ten people up, nine out of ten probably couldn't tell you who Coburn is.

McCain list of Senators supporting him reads like a who's who of RINOs with a very few exceptions.
Sen. Sam Brownback (R-Kan.)
Sen. Richard Burr (R-N.C.)
Sen. Tom Coburn (R-Okla.)
Sen. Susan Collins (R-Maine)
Sen. Pete Domenici (R-N.M.)
Sen. Lindsey Graham (R-S.C.)
Sen. Jon Kyl (R-Ariz.)
Sen. Joe Lieberman (I-Conn.)
Sen. Gordon Smith (R-Ore.)
Sen. Olympia Snowe (R-Maine)
Sen. John Thune (R-S.D.)
Sen. John Warner (R-Va.)

Senators of the same party are probably expected to stand for each other - brothers in the bond. Otherwise, back on the floor there may well be some sort of punishment - maybe a whisper, but effective.

Very shocking. Coburn has been one of the three best conservatives in the U.S. Senate (Jim DeMint and Jeff Sessions are the other two) and he endorses a guy who delights in poking a sharp stick into the eye of conservatives?
I confess that I actually backed McCain in 2000. But between his bigoted comments about Christian conservatives, his co-sponsorship of McCain-Feingold, his support for open borders and Mexicanization of America and his general propensity to p*ss on the conservative base, I wouldn't support him if he were running for dog catcher now.
I have to wonder what Coburn got in return for his endorsement.

Most of those listed are NOT Rinos.
Collins, Graham, Smith, Snowe and Warner are. Maybe Domenici.

Well McCain would be better than Romney, Huckabee or Rudy.
On my list he is fourth from the bottom.
