Man Shot by Police [in Madison, WI] to be Deported to Mexico

A Mexican national who was shot four times by police during a bizarre episode on Williamson Street in 2004 will be deported within the next few days after being released from the Mendota Mental Health Institute and will continue his treatment for schizophrenia in Mexico.

Carlos Toledo-Rubio, who was using the name David Lopez Jr. at the time, was found not guilty by reason of mental disease after the Williamson Street incident, which began when he assaulted his ex-girlfriend. When police were sent to the scene, Toledo-Rubio fought with officers, stole a squad car and led police on a chase through the neighborhood.

Toledo-Rubio was shot with Tasers several times and, after crashing the stolen squad car, was shot with a police gun and wounded four times. He was committed to Mendota after being ruled insane.

In October, Dane County Circuit Judge Diane Nicks ruled that Toledo-Rubio could be released from Mendota and ordered a release plan be established. That was complicated by Toledo-Rubio's immigration status and the government's plan to deport him, but those issues were resolved.

The state Department of Health and Family Services established a plan which will allow for Toledo-Rubio to continue treatment in Mexico, where he will live with his family. Attorney David Knoll, who represented Toledo-Rubio, said at a brief court hearing Tuesday that the department made "considerable effort to make sure he returns to Mexico with his family and with his medications in place."

Under current law, Toledo-Rubio will not be permitted to re-enter the United States.

He'll be back in 72 hours, tops. The Hippies in Madistan will be holding candlelight vigils for him. Just watch...

Is this the same guy in a thread a couple of weeks back who had been receiving mental health inpatient treatment for so long, compliments of you and the other Wisconsin tax payers?

It's a huge joke that he won't be allowed to return to the U.S. We need a very good fence to keep him and the other nuts and criminals out.

We need a huge fence with a one-way turnstyle aiming out.

Wow I am amazed by two things in this story.

First, that the Madison police still carry guns.

Second, that they actually shot an illegal alien.

Hadda be an accident.

Heck. They chopped off half of Kunta Kinte’s foot for escaping. The least we could do is take half of his for sneaking in.

Yep. Same guy. Just doing my usual thorough follow-up to posts that are ignored by all but a handful, LOL! ;)

I know our illegal problems up here aren’t nearly as bad as they are in the Southwest but I remember, as a young girl, my Grandma packing up blankets and clothing and canned goods for “those poor immigrants” that worked the carrot & taters fields on the outskirts of our town.

Her heart was in the right place, but d@mn! One hates to think that her own “Gramma” was an ‘open-borders, one-worlder.’ ;)

I know she was not in the LEAST bit political in her actions; she was a Good Christian Woman and saw little children in need...unlike her jaded and “worldly” Granddaughter who inherited this mess. *SMIRK*

Too bad he couldn’t have been deported BEFORE he wasted taxpayer money on his hospital bills after being shot.

Like... Bang (x4), ambulance, over the border, let Mexico worry about treatment and medical bills.

“First, that the Madison police still carry guns.”

If you search local news archives you’ll find that the Hippies up here are more upset with the “tasering” of anyone, versus them being shot. I think it’s because Liberals are more likely to be tasered during their useless lifetimes than actually shot.

D@mn! That HURTS, Brother! *SMIRK*

Personally? I think we need to work on changing those statistics, LOL! :)

I don’t think it is necessary to shot them before you deport them.

What are the odds that the US taxpayer will somehow be paying for his medical treatment in Mexico?

The police need bigger guns, save a lot of future problems from happening.
