COLUMBIA, S.C. -- With shouts of Go Fred! echoing off the walls of the auditorium, Fred Thompson wound his way through tables filled with thousands of guns and more importantly for his campaign hundreds of gun owners.
I was interested in him because of his Second Amendment stance, said Robbie Smith, who had come to this gun show in Columbia to check out the merchandise and see Senator Thompson. But I voted for him because hes a good, down-to-earth guy.
It was the last campaign stop for Thompson today, and could be the last stop of his candidacy if he doesnt win or at least come close to winning South Carolina.
Ive always said I have to do very well here, theres no question about that and I stand by that, he said. Well have to see what the results are tonight, and it wont be too much longer.

“But I voted for him because hes a good, down-to-earth guy.”
Wrong reasons to vote for the guy. But we’ll take it.
To: Aristotelian
Sabotage, pure and simple.
Won't you be so disappointed if Fred does well in SC, as it appears he is?

I want Fred to win so badly. I cannot tell you how mad at him I’ll be if he doesn’t do well. :o) I really hope he keeps going and gains some attention. For me, he’s the one. Hey, Fred, I’m listening to ya! Hang in there and don’t give up. Screw the press.

Fred has already stated that he is going to participate in Florida, so this report is entirely trumped up and is a false as it can be.
There's no statement from the candidate here, and this is essentially vote tampering, discouraging folks from participating in the vote.
This is what I am sick of. The media has done this to several candidates, and it is not what should be taking place by leftists who profess they want everyone to vote.

COLUMBIA, S.C. -- Fred Thompson, trailing Mike Huckabee and John McCain in the polls, will continue his presidential bid even if he finishes third in today's South Carolina primary, his campaign said.

I’m behind Fred but I think he should have shown some fire much earlier.

Isn’t it obvious how badly the MSM wants this to be the end of Fred’s campaign?

I’m very leary of articles by the msm knowing their agenda.

The headline is, as usual with CBS, misleading.
When asked about the future, Thompson said hed have to wait until after the primary. My plans for Monday? he said. It depends on tonight. Well see.
They were obviously trying to get him to say he would drop out. But he didn't say that.

We are so screwed. We have got to get this process fixed. Our candidate is being picked by Leftists in the early states because Republicans are now too dumb to vote for who they agree with instead of who they are being told by the Junk Meida is going to win.

If McCain loses tonight will he do the honorable thing and drop out? How about Rudy?

On Fox exit poll only 17% like Thompson. Vast majority for Huckabee.
Not sounding to good for this old conservative. No way in He11 I vote Mccain or Huck. Might could stomach a Mitt.
Maybe a Hilda or Obama Presidency will wake us all up.

You never, ever, ever, ever see that kind of reporting about Kucinich or even Mike Gravel.

I’m not convinced that Thompson wants the job. I know I’m going to get a lot of hate mail for this but I can’t help it - that’s what I think. I wish it weren’t so and now I think its too late for him.
