First of all, the source was unnamed. Seriously. Was it the same unnamed source that said that Fred would drop out after Iowa and endorse McCain?
Second, are you telling me that YOU, RangerM, have a personal inside source in the national Fred08 campaign?
I’d take McCain over Huckabee.
(I'm not a supporter of either of them, but I'm just thinking outloud here.)
Personally, I think if McCain gets the nomination, say hello to a third term for the Clintons. :-/
You obviously weren’t listening to the speech.
Don’t know anything about sources or comments regarding Iowa. I’ve only heard regarding SC.
Could be wrong though, but I trust the source.

COLUMBIA, S.C. — Fred Thompson, trailing Mike Huckabee and John McCain in the polls, may continue his presidential bid even if he finishes third in today’s South Carolina primary, his campaign said. . .

Certainly goes against what I heard, but I acknowledge I could be wrong.
The title of that piece doesn’t exactly match the text of the story though.
I agree, the “For OUR Country” had a nice ring to it!
I cannot see myself pulling the lever for either McCain or Huckabee...
I think you just inadvertantly described both the RNC & the DNC.
dues ex machina: "money from the machine".
If your source was somebody inside the Huckabee camp, they no doubt fervently hope that Thompson will drop out. He effectively derailed Huck’s campaign today.
Thompson apparently stole a lot of Huckabee’s evangelical support and thus inadvertently helped McCain. If Huck can’t win in SC, he’ll be the one going home before long.
All of your posts just sound like gloating, rubbing it in, for those who support Fred. You’ve said your piece, you don’t need to say it over and over again except to be ugly.
Whatever happens, and I hope he wins the nomination, I support him and I won’t be voting for anyone else. Got it?
I don’t agree with you and I don’t care what you say, and you don’t need to hang around here, you are no friend of anyone who supports Fred.
Likely both (Huck and Fred) will be headed home, sooner or later.
Derailing Huckabee was hoped for, assuming a win didn’t happen, so I guess they got their (and your) wish.
I was told however, that a McCain-Huckabee alliance was suspected. Don’t know if that’s true or not, nor do I know what that suspicion was based on. It seems paranoid.
Following all this “He said, She said” stuff gets annoying, and these suspicions/accusations become akin to a “JFK” conspiracy. I’ll be glad when it’s over.
Excuse me, but my candidate didn’t win either, so I’m not sure what I’d be gloating about.
No Huckabee more important than having Fred
I’m for ANYBODY who can defeat the evil that is Mike Huckabee.
People say that Thompson is taking away votes from Huckabee. I say great! Somebody had better, or that lying sack of #$%^^ will wind up doing even more damage to the Republican Party than he has already done.
I’m sure that Thompson is also taking votes away from Romney, Giuliani, and McCain. So what? I hope he takes more. I want to see at least two of these faux Republicans get their tickets home punched in Florida.
I think Thompson is OK on the money front, and although I am nearly maxed out, he can get whatever more I can give him. He just needs to stay in all the way to the convention.
The votes the Arkansas con-man is picking up from people who seem to have the reasoning power of roasted squirrel won’t be there outside the so - called “evangelical” community.
Both of you are very disturbed.
Huckabee may bow out before the convention, but Fred will before Huckabee.
Fred is gone. You can fume about it all you want, but there will come a time to get over it.
lol. Criminal? That is a stretch.
Fred is the statesman of all the GOP groupies, in my opinion.
You bet I am disturbed. I love my country and I think I’m watching it enter into a time of serious trouble. Iand I’m even more disturbed that the Party I have come to think of as the last protector of the Constitution is throwing itself onto the thinnest of ice with the collection of jokers and clowns so many are enamored of these days.
Frankly, I am not only disturbed, I’m disgusted to the point of nausea.
