Leading Democrats To Bill Clinton: Pipe Down By Jonathan Alter NEWSWEEK Updated: 1:43 PM ET Jan 19, 2008

Prominent Democrats are upset with the aggressive role that Bill Clinton is playing in the 2008 campaign, a role they believe is inappropriate for a former president and the titular head of the Democratic Party. In recent weeks, Sen. Edward Kennedy and Rep. Rahm Emanuel, both currently neutral in the Democratic contest, have told their old friend heatedly on the phone that he needs to change his tone and stop attacking Sen. Barack Obama, according to two sources familiar with the conversations who asked for anonymity because of their sensitive nature. Clinton, Kennedy and Emanuel all declined to comment.

On balance, aides to both Bill and Hillary still see Bill as a huge net plus in fund-raising, attracting large crowds and providing a megaphone to raise doubts about Obama—even if some of those doubts are distortions. But there's concern that in hatcheting the Illinois senator and losing his temper with the news media (last week he thrashed a San Francisco TV reporter for asking about a lawsuit filed by Clinton-backing teachers union members to limit the number of Nevada caucuses), Clinton is drawing down his political capital and harming his role as a global statesman. "This is excruciating," says a member of the Clintons' circle, who asked for anonymity. "But the stakes couldn't be higher. It's worth it to tarnish himself a bit now to win the presidency."

During a December taping with PBS's Charlie Rose, a frustrated Clinton called Obama "a roll of the dice," as aides tried to end the interview.

I agree she would not want him in the WH..she would not for a second want any spotlight shinning on him. Not the self centered Clintons..no they want the limelight all to themselves sort of like Hugo Chavez.

They are under the mistaken impression that Bill Clinton actually gives a damn about the Democrat Party. All he cares about is himself. I'll never forget how he siphoned off all the Democrat Congressional election funds in '96 to pad his own campaign, allowing the GOP to maintain control of both Houses.

BJ Clinton is trailer trash with a sheen of sophistication and no mullet. If this is enough to fool the electorate....

I’ll hold my nose and vote for whoever has an (R) next to their name. There is much at stake but what some conservatives don’t acknowledge is that if Hillary or Obama get in they could be appointing two or three Supreme Court replacements over four or eight years, not to mention a slew of other federal judges.

Republicans came out of the woodwork to defeat John Kerry and he is not as polarizing as Hillary.

I did some research on Obama after I read some things about his Kenyan connection. The opposition presidential candidate,Odinka, who has inspired street violence since he lost, claims that Obama is his cousin. Odinka is a communist who courted the Muslims in Kenya by telling them that he would cut all assistance to the USA in the WOT. Furthermore Obama’s autobiography is titled “Dreams From MY Father”, a seemingly innocuous ode to his dead father. But it is revealing to find out that the tribe that he comes from believes that if the person whose name you have been given appears to you in a dream you are obliged to adopt their “personality”. Obama’s father was an admittedly bad character who was a Muslim. On top of all that Obama’s Church is extremely Afro-centric. In short as bad as the Clintons are, Obama is even worse!

Classic Tag Team..Bill trys to take Obama off his message and engage him, while Hillary rises above the fray and stays on message waiting to leap from the top corner rope and smash Obama to the canvas. Will it work?

“That our political system has reached the point where a single family....”

Its called an oligarchy. IMHO, the natural consequence of a decreasing tax base..5% of the nation paid 60% of the taxes last year....That 5% owns and runs the government. Hillary’s got the dirt on all of them...and she has been selected as their next leader.

It is a step above a tag team. Bill does the lying and Hillary stays close to the truth so she can’t be criticized

Exactly, that is why I’ll vote against whatever Democrat is on the general ticket. Not to cast a vote is as much as giving the democrat your vote.
