If you all hate McCain so much then were the hell is your far right candidate you seek? Why is there no one in the running that you consider a "true conservative"? Stop complaining and look at that fact and ask yourselves why. I see and hear endless bashing of McCain, Giuliani, Huckabee and Romney on talk radio, in the conservative press and on this site yet the far right does not have a viable candidate. Thompson isn't even a purist as you seem to be hunting for and he's finished today anyway.

If you are so unhappy with the current choice of candidates, then break away and form a far right party like the Green Party did to the Democrats and nominate Dick Cheney or Rush Limbaugh.

In the meantime step aside while the rest of the Republican party tries to put end end to the Clinton era.

Well, of course for there to be a Ronald Reagan, there had to be a Jimmy Carter.
Alot of people think...oh well...what’s the difference...6 of one and half a dozen of another.

However, I do not think McKennedy is the answer and yes, many Repubs would sit this one out.

Mitt is the only hope for conservatisem in this election.

Why is it a “far-right” position to hate that McCain dumped on the first amendment with his campaign finance debacle?

Why is it a “far-right” position to hate that he dumps on Republicans every chance he gets?

Santorum said that McCain would not work with the Republicans at all, instead he teamed up with the most liberal of the lefties for crap bills like shamnesty.

Far-right? Hardly. Just not nearly left as you and your McCain loving friends in NH.

Well Sensible, and I think you already know this, many around here feel this way: “If my guy loses it’s because the media is against him. If my guy loses it’s because of voter fraud. If my guy loses it’s because the voters are stupid. If my guy loses it’s because the “system” is rigged.”

But it’s never because the kind of guy I like is not popular with America. It’s never because I and my buddies are on the fringe outside mainstream American thought. And it’s never, never, never because I am wrong.

I agree with your position. However, if I am left with McCain as my candidate I will likely be as enthusiastic for him as I was for Dole. Which means I was enthusiastic about not helping Clinton, not a strong base to build excitement.

Senators are ill equipped to be President. I gave Fred a pass on this. The Governors will continue to shine through the noise of this primary (and to a lesser extent, Rudy). After Fred, I’m a Mitt supporter because of the remaining candidates McCain has made me too angry too many times in the past and Huck is like Carter.

I talk to Republicans every day, people I know for a fact are conservatives, and although McCain isn’t their first choice they are going to support him if he is the party’s nominee. We here on FR sometimes become so dogmatic that we allow reason to be replaced by emotion. Any reasonable conservative would admit that McCain would be a better choice than Clinton to occupy the White House for the next four years. It isn’t even close. I don’t expect McCain to unite the Republican Party for November. I believe Hillary Clinton will do that.

If conservatives step aside, you will not be ending the Clinton era. You will be adding 8 years to it. MCcain will not win the general election precisely because conservatives will step aside. We may hold our noses and vote for him, (I won’t, even with my nose held) but we will not work for him.

Ask yourself why Bush 41 and Dole lost.

I resigned my 32-year membership in the Bar of the US Supreme Court over the McCain-Feingold campaign "reform" act. It was a direct and obvious attack on the First Amendment. When the Supreme Court became the third branch of the federal government to savage the Constitution, I resigned.

Furthermore, I told the Court (and John McCain also) why? My article, "To the Supreme Court: I Quit," was published widely, including on FR.

I urge all my friends and colleagues on FR to seek out a candidate on the Republican side who is NOT an enemy of the Constitution. (And I haven't brought up many of McCain's other defects, including amnesty for Mexican criminals in the US, etc.)

IMHO, there are better options remaining on the Republican side.

What's the point of voting for MeCain over Hillary/Obama should he win the nomination?

Wouldn't that be a Democrat in the White-house either way.

I'd rather lose this election on my Conservative principles than moderate them to appeal liberals who call themselves moderate Republicans.

You don't want to end it you just want to change the ratio of spoils you divide amongst yourselves. That's the reason both parties are so muddled now, it's so hard to tell the difference between them.
