There is a very prominent idea around here, and it goes something like this:
“Such and such a pubbie does not agree with MY IDEA of conservatism ONE HUNDRED PERCENT therefore he’s a worthless, communist rino and I’d rather vote for Hillary”
It’s a pretty childish phenomenon.
And she will probably get elected because of it.
Rush has no problem with illegal drugs, why should you?

One day we will understand why, against all odds, Rush likes Mitt Romney. Until that day, I will be sitting here scratching my head, it makes absolutely no sense.

I’m not a talk radio robot, but I can see the McCain personal record for what it is.
A bitter man who lost in 2000 sniping at the current president and his policies until last year, when his campaign for president now began in earnest.
From the tax cut in 2001 on down it was constant criticism.
I often call McCain a Bob Dole, though.
That means the party insiders may have promised him the nomination (after his 2000 loss) now maybe even the current president he’s sniped at for six years.
I can’t prove it but it seems like we are being Doled again.
Obviously those of us on FR are now in the minority and most of the Republicans are pleased with McCain. Therefore there remains a good chance the Dems still lose. Rather bittersweet to me.

First, Mc Cain will not win a National election.

The moment Mc Cain or the liberal Republican still around [I believe that in the end it will be John Mc Cain because the Republican Hierarchy chose him in their back rooms long ago] is nominated as the Republican standard bearer they will be visously attacked by the same media that was praising them only moments before.
And i understand that polls say that John Mc Cain will wipe up the floor with Hillary but, If Mc Cain is the nominee get ready for the Wednesday morning after the first Tuestay in November for the media to be crowing as they anounce a Hillary win.

Those "Rockefeller Republicans" you speak so derisively of include Nixon, Kissinger, Ford, and others who helped the USA survive that era. I don't think they did THAT bad a job. But then I'm not a conspiracy minded paranoid, either.
The President who almost got us baked was JFK. A charismatic, Democrat who won election when GOP voters who had twice elected Ike didn't stand up for the party choice of Nixon. Bad call. Please try to reconsider your fear of the 'foreign policy establishment' and Rockefeller, etc. You sound like you've read one too many Lyndon LaRouche pamphlets or something.
Things are, exactly as they seem. The GOP is divided. There are a lot of sub-groups in the big tent: Evangelicals, Value Voters, Free Trade Advocates, Libertarians, Westerners, Southerners, Mormons, Defense supporters, and yes even New Englanders. This year we have an open primary, and a bunch of good candidates, each particularly strong with one sub-group. It's going to take a while to boil all this down, but the people are deciding. Sadly the process favored independents and democrats a bit too much early on, in my opinion. (With cross voting permitted in both New Hampshire and Michigan.) But now we are into the guts of the thing and the majority of primaries are Republican Only. The Media has spectacularly FAILED to have their beloved "sweep" scenario happen. This is good. More states are going to have more say in the selection of the Republican nominee than any election in my lifetime. I don't see much to complain about in terms of the process. If the outcome has not yeilded "your perfect conservative' it is probably because he/she doens't exist or didn't want to run.

If our country can't survive a liberal democrat, what makes you think it will survive a liberal republican?
The RINO republican party wants voters to believe that it is them vs Hillary. It's what gets them reelected.
And they do little more for us than the democrats.
We have to use our votes elsewhere or the RINOs believe they have a monoply on our votes -- they can do what they want.
Our republic will survive -- or it is not worth keeping.
That Ron Paul guy picked up four delegates in Nevada yesterday and will probably do well in Alaska on February 5th.

McKennedy is not a conservative and he is not the guy who can beat Hillary or Obama.
Romney is the most conservative of the real contenders. If the rank and file got behind him, we would win.

No, the Republicans still can't win without the conservatives.
However, since the people that you call "conservatives" are 15% of the Republican electorate AT MOST, they cannot nominate or elect one of their own, under any circumstances.
We've seen that they can prevent the election of any center-right candidate they choose.
What else can they do? Not much.
No disagreement here just major disappointment.
