Long Beach - Groups of gunmen attacked two separate parties during the night in the Los Angeles area, killing two teenagers and wounding at least nine other people, authorities said on Sunday.
There were no immediate arrests in either shooting, police said.
The first shooting happened late on Saturday in Long Beach, where several gang members apparently crashed a birthday party and started a fight, said police sergeant Dina Zapalski.
A 17-year-old boy and a 15-year-old girl died of gunshot wounds, said Zapalski. Another 17-year-old boy suffered injuries that were not life-threatening.
Early on Sunday, four or five men turned up at a party in Compton and opened fire, said Los Angeles county sheriff's deputy Tony Moore.
Eight people were wounded in the Compton shooting, three of them critically, authorities said.
Moore said it was not known if that attack was gang-related.
You mixed up the parties. They know the first party was gang-related; they didn’t know about the second.
Wow! The paper has already taken the article down. It is in their archives now.
“I just hope it happens in my lifetime and not my children’s. To be more specific I hope it happens before my old, tired body gives out and I can’t fight a counterinsurgency campaign with the young’uns.”
I don’t want it to happen, but if it does, I agree with your comment 100%. Except for one thing: Even if I’m old and decrepit I feel confident I’ll still be able to get off a couple well-aimed shots before I meet my maker.
