Since Fred Thompson hasn't withdrawn yet, and there's still quite a bit of baseball left to be played, it'd be premature for me to pick any other candidates right now. I'm realistic enough to know he's a long shot, but I still think he's our best candidate for November best and is the man I most want to see sworn in in January.

Because, as a North Carolinian, I don't vote until May 6th, there's no real reason for me to pick a second candidate. After all, there's no guarantee that even my second pick will still be in the race by then. I don't favor any of the other candidates enough currently to actively advocate his nomination. My only real preference right now is that Huckabee not be the nominee. Beyond that, I'll make the choice when I have to.

As for Fred endorsing McCain, it wouldn't hurt my opinion of Fred, but nor would it affect my decision on whether to vote for McCain. I'll make up my own mind, when the time comes.

McCain loves working with the Democrats and compromising (surrendering) our liberties. Witness McCain-Feingold, McCain-Kennedy, McCain-Leiberman, etc.

Compromising with liberals means giving up more of our freedoms. You never see a liberal giving us MORE freedom, they only take (see tagline).

McCain is a turncoat and if he gets the nod, we can expect a McCain/Leiberman ticket.

They’ll be running on the Sour/Loserman platform.

my gut tells me he is going to end up supporting McCain

Therefore....

[drum roll]

.....we need to keep Thompson in the race.

The McCain poll is ok, but your other poll is invalid without NONE OF THE ABOVE as one of the choices.

I have no intention of supporting any of the RINO's. I will vote for the nominee as long as it isn't Huckabee, but I really don't give a flip about any of them so it would be disingenuous of me to do so.

A more accurate poll would have a fifth option: “no one.”

Point is kind of moot until the man quits, and he has not done that.

Indeed I am hearing it is onward and upward.

So maybe you are jumping the gun a bit?

What was that old saying about a wish in one hand?

Yes, Vote to keep out Hillary or Obama and then (in reverse order of approval) Huckabee, McCain, Guiliani, Romney. Thats assuming Thompson hasn’t dropped out by the time I get to vote. If he has I’ll vote for Romney with some trepidation.

If Thompson were to endorse McCain it would prove that the GOP does not deserve the support of conservatives.

It quite frankly would be shocking if he did, the right thing to do would be to endorse none of these creatures.

I’ve been a Fred supporter since my Tennessee days and I just don’t see him endorsing anyone.

I can almost hear him say “Let ‘em fight it out on their own”.

If the last standing conservative drops out, then I won’t have a dog in this hunt. Can’t get excited about a RINO race.

Go, FRed, GO!!

Thanks for responding. I TOTALLY disagree with you on so many fronts, Romney’s much better than the rest, but it’s your site, and I respect your decision.

There’s no one worth Freds endorsement. I will never vote for McCain. This country doesn’t deserve to go thru another Klinton. She is definitely a communist Got a kid to donate? Who’s?

The Mittbots are pushing the notion quite hard and it is backfiring ....

Flip Romney’s biggest detriment around here is his Mittbot brigade and their feebleminded ploys ...

Jeff -

Any possibility of Thompson as the VP for McCain? (Just a Sunday afternoon musing.)

Romney will usher in universal health care. His vaunted RomneyCare big government boondoggle is a giant step in that direction. He has a history of supporting Roe v Wade, abortion, gay rights, gun control and illegal aliens. He still supports gays in the military. No thanks, he’s a nanny-state RINO.

If Fred isn’t running, then I support no one. No one else in this race is worth my time and effort.

Funny, even now the hard sell is having little effect...

I have two candidates remaining: Fred, if he is still in it, and Romney.

I'd rather be waterboarded than vote for McCain.

Hewitt is a moron and in the bag for Flipp Mittens.

He left Paul out as a ‘major candidate’ even though he took 2nd in Nevada yesterday... beating Rudy in every race.

I hate Rudy but I voted for him in this stupid poll, just to add noise.
