He would have easily won with McCain on the ticket.

Not that I'd believe anything a Senator might say, but that takes in McCain as well...and Clinton, and Edwards...even formerly Thompson.

Eeeww! God, it stinks in there....

There’s no obvious reason for Kerry to lie about this.

Doesn't mean he's telling the truth.

Kerry said he approached McCain about 7 times. What I wonder about, if this is true, is why didn’t McCain make it very clear during the first offer that he wouldn’t do it? Did McCain play coy for a while and seriously consider it?

“There’s no obvious reason for Kerry to lie about this.”

Cambodia John Kerry, as he has already proven, is a pathological liar.

I’m not an admirer of John McCain, but I’d need to see ironclad documentary evidence before I’d take John Kerry’s word for anything.

This deserves a re-posting. I watched this video, which McCain made in 2000, claiming Kerry is NOT WEAK on defense. People, it made me SICK, thinking this man could be the standard-bearer for Republicans. Please check it out!!

McCain has no credibility, no judgment, is such an insider in the cloak room he just loves Jon Cary and Teddie!!!!

McCain is self-centered.

The other day, he tried to pretend he is running for president because he is concerned about the direction the country is taking. (Which is what Thompson says is his own motivation for running.)

What a liar McCain is. He's run for president when the country was headed in better directions.

Depends on which account you believe. Bob Shrum?

“. . .Nevertheless, the chatter has persisted, fueled by media reports quoting Kerry advisers saying they think a Kerry-McCain ticket would be an unbeatable combination against Bush.”

http://www.cnn.com/2004/ALLPOLITICS/04/11/mccain.veep/index.html

From BOSTON GLOBE—Kerry’s hometown newspaper:

“The senator’s McCain) reputation as a moderate and straight talker prompted Kerry to ask him whether he would consider being his running mate as the ultimate expression of bipartisanship. . .”

Maybe McCain can ask Kerry to be his VP this time and then all will be well.

What does he [Kerry] have to gain? To whom does the damage to McCain help?

According to the latest polls (which show McCain beating any Dem candidate in the general with relative ease), it appears to help the Democrats.

Probably right but liberals and independents don’t control all the Republican primaries. Perhaps enough people will realize what a slithering low life McCain is before he puts Hillary in the White House.

Few of these people are either liberal or conservative, they will play whatever part seems most profitable, the shortest route to power.

Decency, honor, and true patriotism are seen, by them, as a stupid illusion, on the part of us, stupid dammned Peons! I reckon they must get a few laughs, out of us, they damned sure don't take us seriously.

I have a fine, strapping, smart, decent grandson, he is all Gung ho, he puts his JROTC uniform on, and his spine straightens, his shoulders square up, and you can see the Man he is about to become. I am real particular about who becomes his CIC.

He listens to me, and I may just tell him it is all an illusion!

The reason could be that he wants to sink McCain’s chances.

Old news. Heard about this 4 yrs ago. Shows McCain is a treacherous Judas-goat by nature, how any Republican would give this contemptible, backstabbing clown the nod is evidence of how far the GOP has fallen. Should McCainiac get the nomination, I, like Reagan, will feel the Party has left me.

Not that it’s not beyond the realm of possibility, but Kerry has lied before about far more important issues. Why would Kerry choose a one-time senator over a far more popular, time and again re-elected one, unless Kerry did the asking and McCain said no?

McCain would be a disaster for this country. His lack of character and values, his outrageous votes on immigration, CFR, Keating 5, etc. reveal him to unfit for POTUS.
