Hubby Bill was supposed to “unite” the GOP against him, but was elected to 2 terms and all it did was convince the GOP to run a RINO (W) in conservative’s clothing. I think the time has come to begin a Conservative Party.

As president of the senate a former senator would be a good VP selection. Romney Thompson, Romney/Santorum
IIRC, McCain does not support a right-to-life amendment. I suppose he is as pro life as any of the candidates other than Rudy.
I would hold my nose and vote for McCain, but he would be just as bad as Hillary. He proudly runs around telling everyone in the media that he hates his fellow Republicans. Wonder how he feels when his fellow Republicans deep-six him in Florida?
Certainly he SHOULD do so. As much as I like Haley Barbour, however, I think Romney would do better with a VP candidate from the Midwest.
(Running against BO or HRH HRC, any 'Pub will take all of the Southern states. A Southerner as ticket-mate isn't necessary.)

McCain, if elected, will abandon his pledge to make the tax cuts permanent in exchange for “spending cuts” that will never materialize from the RATS.
McCain will be worse in domestic policy than Richard Nixon, who was horrible.

He didn't appoint conservative judges in MA. In fact, he appointed 36 judges while Governor of MA and only 9 were Republicans. 27 were Democrats or independents who donated to democrats!

For the record, I am not a McCain supporter. I am hoping for a new candidate, now that Thompson appears to be out of it.
I would not call McCain a “liberal”, though he is on the particular issues you cite. McCain defies description of any one word like “conservative” or “liberal”. He’s...McCain.
What offends me about him is that he takes such pleasure in bashing his own party. McCain’s harshest words are always for his fellow Republicans, and he engages in LoveFests with John Kerry, Lieberman, Kennedy etc.
That being said, I pretty much know where he stands. Romney is a big unknown.

Yeah, that worries me too. Romney has not done anything to push his religion in his public life, so I don’t see why that should be an issue. Neither did his father, when he was governor of Michigan. I lived in Michigan when Romney was governor there. His religion was not an issue—just an interesting trivia fact.
Now I am a Southern Baptist, living in Fla. I don’t see any reason why religion should play a role in this election, but it appears to me that it does. If conservatives want to have influence in Washington during the next 4 years, they are going to have to get past that.
Of course Romney can beat Hillary. He is hardly even known. These national polls are nothing but a pulse of name identification.
Nope, he needs one to hold the South. Crist of Florida would be anohter possibility.. except for those nasty gay rumors about him, lol.
As a “slick”, fast-talkin’ Northeastern Yankee, Romney will need to team with someone with a drawl. And y’all know what I’m talkin’ about.
