It becomes the “best wrong answer”

That said, how much of this includes the absentee ballots.

Without Fred none of them are considered conservative. You are fooling only yourself by saying that.

You're only fooling yourself thinking Thompson is a Conservative.

“In every way, Romney and Fred would be a workable ticket. Even if I would like it to be Fred and Romney.”

Shhhh. Watch what you wish for. It seems that every time we here on Free Republic settle on somebody, the rest of the Republican world decides on somebody else and our guys end up in the dust.

:-)

Romney is a big unknown.

Almost ALL presidential candidates were "unknown.".

Most were Governors of states, i.e. Texas, Arkansas, California, etc. --- and relatively few were US Senators.

If you check up on Romney with an open mind, you will find he got fairly high grades from all ProLife organizations, from the NRA, and from taxpayer watchdog groups.

McCain was for tax cuts. Either with spending cuts which was 100% ob because Bush blew the freaking budget or for the slightly smaller version. He is a small government conservative. He has always voted pro-life. He has voted pro-second. He helped confirm Alito and Roberts. He will win the war in Iraq. If you demanded the purity you want from Reagan he never would have been the nominee.

Regardless, unlike with Romney you can believe what McCain says. If he says something he will do it. He says he will secure the border first. I believe him. He says he will make the tax cuts permanent, I believe him. He is a man of honor. Romney is a weasel.

Romney represents everything we hated for so many years! He is the worst aspects of all the major presidential candidates on the left:

- The country club wealthy flip-flopper from MA. Kerry or Romney?

- The finger in the wind poll created leader. Clinton or Romney?

- The un-charismatic exaggerate everything robot. Gore or Romney?

- The polarizing nearly un-electable figure. Hillary or Romney?

- The untested candidate with no foreign policy experience who ran for president because he could not win re-election in his home state? Edwards or Romney?

Please. Are we that stupid?

Rumierules:

“Right now?” Are you implying that the conservative base hasn’t hated Johnny Mac for decades? They, I mean, WE have had every right to hate the bastard. McCain is like a meaner version of Ghouliani. Ghouliani looks tame compared to angry, anti-conservative Johnny Mac.

I agree with other posters on this thread. McCain MUST be brought down in an embarrassing defeat, ideally. By that, I mean losing really big to the younger, more positive, fresher faced Romney. Recent efforts (by Thompson and to some degree Romney) have been to leave McCain alone and bring down Mr. Preacher. It’s worked, but in the process, they forgot about Johnny Mac who is now the apparent MNM “leader”, though not in delegates. Suckabee is fading fast. He just suffered a humiliating defeat by McCain who he was nice to. But both McCain and Suckabee have been depending on the crossover vote from the Dems because essentially, both men—save for abortion—are Democrats. With the closed primaries favoring Romney, I think Suckabee AND Johnny Mac are in trouble...

This is and AMAZING POLL!! I thought there was a Rasmussen poll yesterday that showed Romney in FOURTH PLACE in FL with just 19% of the vote! Maybe Romney’s recent tv appearances and Fred’s poor showing are giving some conservatives to back Romney...This is simply fantastic!!

Handouts? I live in MI and he never said that here. He did say jobs should stay here. McCain on the other hand said the jobs are gone forever. We are appoaching 10% unemployment in the state-the highest in the country.

You have to WORK with them to get things done, that is the downside. No one wants to work with McCain.

“Almost ALL presidential candidates were “unknown.”.

I meant ‘unknown’ in the sense that it is unknown as to what his core beliefs really are.

My own hypothesis is that when a Democratic Congress pushes, he’ll bend...at least on social issues and universal health care.

Wonder if this will hold if 40 percent of the voters have already cast a ballot? Do they poll for that? This is good news if true. But the polls have not been too accurate.

Disaster is a polite word for it. She gets into brawls everywhere she goes, with the wives of Rudy’s contributors. She also got into a HORRID fight with people at Ground Zero. She actually yelled at them to shut up. They told her what to do with it, and heckled Rudy with, “didn’t you pick up that whore at a cigar bar?” rUMOR IS, THEY’RE NOT LONG. No one would be surprised.

If we’re speaking of the newly defined conservative, then your right, and your guy Huckabee is the guy.

But, to the traditional Conservative, Huckabee is a CINO.
