Nader to decide soon on possible presidential run

Mon Jan 21, 11:58 AM ET

MONTREAL (Reuters) - Consumer advocate Ralph Nader said on Monday he will decide soon on whether to make a another bid for the White House in 2008, eight years after playing a key role as a third party presidential candidate.

"I'll decide in about a month," he said in an interview broadcast on CBC Radio's Daybreak show in Montreal.

"What I'm deciding on right now is whether we can get enough volunteers, enough financial resources to overcome the huge ballot access obstacles, which you don't experience here in Canada, but which are the worst in the Western world in the United States," said Nader, who will turn 74 on February 27.

Nader, who made his name as a consumer crusader during decades of battling corporations on matters from car to food safety, ran for president as an independent in 2004 and as the Green Party candidate in 2000.

Critics say he siphoned away enough votes from then Democratic Vice President Al Gore in the 2000 campaign -- especially in Florida -- to help Republican George W. Bush to win the White House.

I disagree...

Oh, and I am seriously considering voting for Ron Paul in the Primary in my state... It really depends on who is left in the running by then.

And no, I don’t want Ron Paul as president. BUT - I figure no-one I care 2 beans about is going to win the nomination anyway, and that person is going to get slaughtered in the General... I figure I might as well throw my protest vote out there.... Should be fun.

I forgot about Ralph. That would be so cool! I wish Gus Hall were still around. He would be fun, too! And how about some KKK and Nazis? Oh, I think they’re working on those.

Nader is an egotistical moron,

He's booksmart, but Ivory tower clueless. But I give him credit; he really hates Hillary. Would love to see him run and drive the RATS crazy again.

“Looking for a Guinness Book record: “person who ran for president the most times”

I’m think that’s Harold Stassen who ran nine times.

Ralph has run four times....so far.

I would like to see Nader run too, but he needs a lot of money.

I know it is a Corvair. A Corvair Monza. Our family had a '61. The Monza was a higher end model. You can tell it by the logo right behind the front tire.

Do a search on "corvair monza".

C’mon in, Ralph, go for Stassen’s record.

Ever heard of Norman Thomas? I believe he ran as a Socialist six times. I heard him speak when I was in college, and I expected him to have horns and a tail. But I think he could probably hold his own in this year's Republican primary race.

Even Nader doesn’t fool moonbats anymore. We’d be far better off if Bloomie decides to blow a billion bucks to steal votes from Hillary.
