Do you guys think there’s a legitimate comparison between Hitler and Stalin and Heath Ledger?

Now you know no one said that.

You said the dead ALWAYS deserve respect and that's the point I challenged.

No one compared a two-bit actor and a world dictator. (Other than the fact that they are all dead.)

Do you still think the dead ALWAYS deserve respect?

The dead ALWAYS deserve respect.

Why? I would rather piss on Lenin's tomb than walk respectfully through it. I've no need to respect an executed murderer, just because the State deservedly offed him. I've no need to respect a dead criminal, killed in the act. I've no need to respect a wastrel who accomplished nothing while living. And I most certainly give no payout to the post mortem narcissism sought by suicides. There's many ways of achieving death that command no admiration.

It is actions done while living and the regard of those who knew the deceased that deserve respect. No one deserves respect for merely being dead.

Okay, I think that someone who deserved to die...a murderer of any kind, or someone who caused great pain and suffering to others in life, does not merit any respect in death.

My reference to the dead always deserving respect is deriding the unbelievably hateful comments I’ve seen regarding Heath Ledger on this site. So to be more correct, unless someone is a murderer/torturer/rapist, they ALWAYS deserve respect, honor, and prayers in their death. That should be a bottom line of human behavior...that’s what separates us from the animals.

I guess this means I won’t get to look forward to “Brokeback Mtn Part II”.

According to Foxnews the “strewn with pills” was not true. First accounts are often incorrect. I doubt that you always accept what the media first says at face value. Or, maybe you do. I’m always skeptical of them. You should be.

I don't find comments on here any more hateful than many other threads where people, politicians, actors, businessmen, and other posters are vilified.

The guy was an actor who nobody on here knew personally so it's not like anyone is slighting a loved one. He was a drug addict, he promoted a high-profile homosexual movie that got an Oscar from all the liberal elites in Hollywood...far from a good example for youth and he was most likely not the most stellar of men.

Some people on a conservative forum don't respect him in life or death. I don't find that surprising.

No I don't, but in all fairness, you were the one stating that the dead always deserves respect. Sorry, but I reserve my respect for innocents such as a child who dies of Leukemia , or a brave soldier who dies defending our liberty. Not an inconsequential Hollywood lefty.

It is the curse of Brokebutt Mtn. Shortly before the film wrapped, one of the grips fell to their untimely death. During editing, one of the editors was found strangled in film. Death was ruled "natural". After the film's release, One of the sheep extras, was found shorn and running up and down the PCH until it succumbed to officers bullets.

This death is just the latest in the curse of BrokeButt Mtn...

When he's dead, and has left behind a young daughter, who cares whether or not he was a "Hollywood lefty?" Are someone's political views SO important that when they die and their family/friends are in pain, they deserve our ridicule and derision?

Yes, God be with his little girl and his parents. I feel terrible for them. Poor dear.

Yes, it is going to have a damper on the Premiere and the publicity and everything. Christian Bale is my favorite actor and it is going to suck that everybody will be asking him questions about Heath’s death instead of the movie.

If those people have just DIED, then yes, there should be respect for them and prayers for their families. Sheesh, it's not rocket science! Whatever happened to being pro-LIFE and having respect for HUMAN LIFE of all shapes, sizes, and colors?

He was a drug addict, he promoted a high-profile homosexual movie that got an Oscar from all the liberal elites in Hollywood...far from a good example for youth and he was most likely not the most stellar of men.

He didn't deseerve to die, and he doesn't deserve ridicule in death. He was a human being. And for the record, I think he was a good actor and a good man. Whether or not I knew him personally, or what his political views were.

Anyone who would mock and ridicule a young man who died at age 28 and left a young daughter behind because of what his "views" were is a petty and superficial human being.

Some people on a conservative forum don't respect him in life or death. I don't find that surprising.

Not anymore. But it is still apalling and vile.

I’m not ridiculing him. I’m merely stating that I just don’t give a damn. From all I’ve read and seen so far, his death was preventable.

“That movie was probably A Knights Tale - one of the worst/stupid/ridiculous flicks ever made.”

Oh, come on! That’s one of my daughter’s favorite movies! Of course, being home schooled, she knew who Chaucer was as well, so she took it with a grain of salt.

I am shocked at the number of mean-spirited comments here. Yes , he made “Brokeback Mountain.” However, he’s an actor. Actors play parts that aren’t like them.

You’d think Fred Phelps and his colony all had accounts here.

If you do this with the hundreds of Hollyweirdo's who star in lousy roles and speak junk you will be on your knees 24/7 with no time for anything else.

I believe that quite often. I think that I feel most that way when I am trying to be too smart all by myself.

I think that's pretty tasteless. To show up on a thread after a young man has died just to tell people you don't care (over and over and over again). If you really don't care, you shouldn't say anything at all out of sheer TASTE and COURTESY.

Well, I don't know if he "deserved" to die or not. But, apparently, he brought it on himself.

I think he was a good actor and a good man

Like many, you think you can tell whether a screen actor who acted in a few movies you liked and whom you didn't know personally was a good man. We do live in a celebrity culture where this is common.

It might mean that more people will come see the movie, to see Heath’s last one.
