I had the same reaction, and I felt so shallow that I didn’t want to admit it!
Maybe the Jarvik heart was made right and didn’t bleed on command!
So, at this point, statin use is kind of like aspirin use. Precisely they work aren't precisely known, but they "do" work.
“LDL doesn’t completely correlate with disease results”.
Doesn’t correlate period.
All of the “side benefits” of statins can be achieved with far safer and cheaper alternatives. You are missing the point that statins are marketed to reduce cholesterol and that lower cholesterol reduces heart disease. That is not proven yet the lemming mentality maintains it is. A stark illustration that a lie repeated often enough becomes a truth.
Statins reduce all cause mortality by a scant .8% aspirin has a better track record.

Here is another excellent article out yesterday
I've already pointed out that what DOES correlate is the LDL/HDL ratio.

Really. Name some of those alternatives, then.
"Statins reduce all cause mortality by a scant .8% aspirin has a better track record."
And this statement is frankly stupid, as the concern isn't "all cause mortality"---but cardiovascular disease. And, as I mentioned earlier, the evidence seems quite clear that statins DO reduce mortality there, viz the TV article about a 25% reduction in mortality.
And yes, I'll read your links, but I'd bet you've mis-interpreted them as badly as your first one.
And the Democrats to this day complain about Joesph McCarthy.
Me, too. I went from 294 to 178 in a few months...
Hopefully not at the expense of your liver.
My you have a sharp tongue. All cause mortality takes in consideration the cardio benefit minus the additional risk of the drug itself.
“I’ve already pointed out that what DOES correlate is the LDL/HDL ratio.”
That’s highly disputed.
“A friend of mine died from Rhabdomyolysis induced by the Baycol she was taking. It is also a side effect of Lipitor. It also destroys the bodys precursor to CoQ10, which needs to supplemented to prevent cardiac problems.:
Yes, that’s true.
