Outback Steakhouse came to our Base today and fed 1,000 folks from several branches of the Military a GREAT meal today. It was all donated and Outback Steakhouse employees cooked and served. It was such a wonderful treat, I just had to publicly thank them.
We had steak and baked potatoes, green beans, pasta, bread, salad and either cheesecake or a chocolate brownie.
Can't tell you much we appreciated this gesture for us military folks here at home!
It’s probably been a year since I’ve been to Outback. I’ve always like Outback, but there are just so many options around where I live that I haven’t been lately. That’s going to change. I will definitely visit one in the next week.
Oh I can imagine. It seems like whining has become an Olympic Level sport these days! Drinking helps :-) Think I’ll go pour a Scotch in your honor!
Hang in there. Hopefully you have nice weather. We’re dealing with a week-long arctic blast at the moment, sure makes ya look forward to spring, even if that does bring PT back.
Ah yes.....in 1998 I flew into Perth, dog tired after the trip from L.A. and got settled into my Swan River side view room at the Duxton.......enjoyed the hell out of the air show and fireworks. That whole show caught me totally by surprise; I thought maybe my Aussie business contacts were overestimating my importance...
Thank you, kindly! I have quite few relatives in Texas, just south of Houston. Wow is THAT a long drive.
Make it a double lol. I’m at work so I can’t drink with ya.
You have a point, the weather is actually really nice. Thats good news when you work with a telescope that requires a beautiful starry night.
It's a good outfit, and a pretty darned good steak.
Mark
And you don't blow farts with fish.
Glad to see them do something which offsets in my brain those hideous, hideous commercial jingles they play on the radio every holiday.
Me too!!
Oh, that does sound like fun! I have always been fascinated with astronomy. Hope you make a great discover or something (as long as it’s not an asteroid headed this way!)
Funny! Yes, I do tend to tune out their commercials.
Better believe my family and I will be much more included to visit Outback now. (That’ll be an easy choice. :) )
Thanks for letting us know. Which ANG base in Michigan, ODC-GIRL? This is such an awesome gift from Outback, the specifics should be passed on to lots of others who respect and admire those are so good to our troops. Outback deserves a national vote of thanks!
All I remember about Selfridge is sometime in 1984 or so we got a call to move all our equipment from the 8 Mile Artillery Amory to Selfridge and climb aboard a couple of troop carriers that were on the tarmac with the engines running. Instead of an overseas trip we got a safety briefing from some air wing commander and an explanation of what a transatlantic trip might have been like. That was enough for me.
Good for you and good on Outback, though. And bless you for your service!
Cool. I hear the sound of freedom every time you guys take off in something. I’m about 3-4 miles from the base.
Which outback restaurant was it?
Outback seems to be a good company - this isn’t the first event of it’s kind that they have sponsored. They do tend to be involved. Wish I could afford to eat there more often - I like their food - and their works like this.
Selfridge, north of Detroit.
Don’t know, but I will try to find out. I’m guessing the one up by Lakeside Mall, but that’s only a guess.
Ah yes, been through mock deployments as well. Always have a good book on hand, or just try to catch a nap.... :-)
Sadly, corrected.
