To: Texas Eagle

It is a very old (founded in 1917) and large base. Largest ANG base in the country. We have been a joint community for decades here, with all branches of the military, including the Coast Guard, in one spot. It’s named after the first military casualty of air flight Thomas Selfridge.

It’s a beautiful base and, so far, has managed to escape closure despite our liberal representation in Washington, who’ve allowed every Active Duty base here to close.

Just starting a week of active duty at Peterson (Air Force Space Command) myself - upside of being attached in Colorado Springs is even when I’m doing 2 weeks, the altitude’s so high that they give you 3 weeks to get used to it before making you do a PT test! So I just do it with my old unit, the 340th at Randolph back home. Of course, I usually wait till it’s nice and hot...
