Either you didnt read the article you posted or you posted it with malice toward Fred and true conservatism.
I read the article thoroughly - do you think I made up the basketball-game-in-the-bedroom story?
As for malice: The article speaks for itself, as did Fred. I'm sure he's a conservative, he just never should have run for President. As a true conservative, yes - I'm pis$ed that I contributed money to someone who by his own admission was basically just going through the motions. Did you read the article? It even quotes Fred as saying he didn't have fire in the belly. If I would have heard him say that first, I never would have supported him, conservative or not.
Don't we WANT someone who has the fire?

To answer that question simply, NO!
I do not want somebody to become President who is willing to sell his soul or his very self to reach that position.
And if you had listened carefully to Fred, that was the distinction he was trying to make between himself, Rudy, Mitt, and others.
He was not doing it because he WANTED to be President, but because he felt the country, his family, the times required a consistent conservative.
Do yourself a favor next time and don't buy the MSM and GOP Party Elites garbage.
Fred was looking for conservative and intelligent voters. Apparently there were not enough of them this election cycle for a conservative to run.

Don't we WANT someone who has the fire? If by that we mean someone who is consumed by the desire to be president, ala Hillary/Bill, I would say no. All I ever heard Fred say was that was not his approach to the task but that if he did not want to be president or did not think he would do a good job as such, he would not be in the race. That was good enough for me.

(Not all that needs to be done, needs to be done by the government.)

“Don’t we WANT someone who has the fire?”
No.
We want a George Washington, or an Eisenhower, or a Fred Thompson.
It wasn’t Fred who failed. It was the Republican voters.
