Does anyone know the history of the Iranian flag’s design change? I know it was the lion and the sword before the Islamic Republic, but what’s up with the weird design thing on the current Iranian flag, and why did they change it?

The shape of the symbol is supposed to be a red tulip, representing the blood of the martyrs. It’s a monogram of the word Allah & of the phrase lah ilaha illa Allah. There is no God but Allah.

In the borders it says Allahu Akbar (God is the greatest) 11 times on each line, 22 in total. The Islaamic revolution was on the 22nd day of Bahman, the 11th month.

By the way, no = lah in Arabic.
