Phony, ignorant Christians
WorldNetDaily ^ | January 25, 2008 | Joseph Farah

Paul warned us about times like this and the way people – including those claiming to be professing Christians – would act. I strongly believe Paul had in mind the kind of people who run major Protestant denominations like the United Methodist Church.

Today, at an event in Fort Worth, Texas, leaders of the denomination, which boasts membership by President Bush and Sen. Hillary Rodham Clinton, will consider divesting from all companies that do business with Israel.

To say that even considering such an action is hateful, unbiblical, anti-Christian and evil would be an understatement.

It's not even understandable except in the context of the kind of morally blind apostasy described by Paul.

The problem with these people is not that they don't understand the Middle East. It is simply that they are no longer able to tell right from wrong. They are no longer able to distinguish between good and evil. They are no longer able to see the difference between freedom and tyranny. They are no longer able to judge between criminal and victim.

They have, in short, completely lost their moral bearings.

This is no longer a church; it is an organization of misguided political activism. This is no longer a house of God; it is a mad house. This is no longer part of the bride of Christ; it is a whore to the world.

I know these are tough words, for which I am sure to be criticized by some of my Christian friends.

For those pastors leading Methodist churches who understand where your denomination is heading, it's time to pack up and divest yourself of links to the denomination.

It's separation time.

Once again the mainline protestant churches show their bigotry towards Israel.

Get out while you can.

I agree...many denominations are apostate now.

exceptions:

PCA

SBC

most Charismatics

nearly all country style literalists and fundies (anything with primitive in the name is not likely to be just kumbaya)

Lutheran Missouri Synod

Texas/Tennessee Church of Christ (a far cry from UCC)

Some Southern Methodists

Some Anglican Rite

can’t comment on Eastern Orthodox or Catholic though I’m partial to the periwinkle and incense of the Slavs

Thus saith the Lord:

“... I will bless those who bless thee, and curse those who curse thee...”

Gen 12:3

Israel will be cared for in spite of the apostate church.

This is the end result of Churches letting in the draft dodgers of the 60’s and 70’s in the form of allowing deferments to seminarians. These moral cowards who joined then have now reached tht point where they actually RUN those churches.
My church-Anglican—was only the first to go, but the rest are not far behind and are fast catching up in their race to the bottom.
Yep. It’s actually LONG PAST time to get out—get out while you still can.

IMO, you should indicate where you have snipped sections of the original to create your edited version. (Unless you are Joe Farrah.)

As it is, you’ve created an edited version, rather than an excerpt, without noting that fact.

I’m glad you posted this column, because it is a critically important issue, but the way you posted it is wrong, IMO.

Unfortunately, this description is right on the money!

There are more ex-Methodists than Methodists. Methodists have been divesting from the Methodist elitists for decades. But they don’t learn.

Yes, the UMC likes to brag that they’ve got open minds, open hearts and open doors.

Somebody needs to tell them they let the devil in.

I agree that s/he stayed true to the intent of the column, but that point is irrelevant. The editing should have been noted in some way.

It’s a matter of journalistic ethics.

Many United Methodist Churches in the South are quite conservative. It's those churches who are being used by the national UMC to fund their activities.

I grew up a United Methodist. When I accepted Christ as Savior when I was 19, I became a regular member of the UMC. I was vice-President of the Wesley Foundation at Mississippi State. I worked at Lake Junaluska Assembly (home of the United Methodist Church in the Southeast) one summer. I met my wife at Christ UMC in Jackson, got married there, raised my kids to go there, and was very active.

However, there was always that nagging feeling I had in the back of my mind...I felt that our church (a bible-believing, Conservative church) was simply put out there as a cash cow for the State Conference and the National Church. I had a bad taste when, growing up, I had heard that they opposed the war in Vietnam yet had no words for the millions slaughtered in the Killing Fields of SE Asia in the wake of our cutting and running. My bad feelings about this were affirmed when they came out against the liberation of the Iraqi people.

When we moved out of Jackson, MS, I decided to NOT transfer to a UMC. We tried a Baptist church for a while, but the Lord led us to a Congregational Methodist Church (Wesleyan teachings, but was congregational instead of hierarchial). My family is VERY happy there. Plus, the Lord has truly blessed us.

I don't condemn the UMC as the Church of Satan. There are many honest, sincere, bible-believing Christians still attending the UMC. Many are trying to change it from the inside. However, I have 4 kids and I don't have the luxury of trying to fight from the inside while my kids are subjected to lukewarm, leftist indoctrination.

Now that they've cursed Israel, I expect calamity to come upon the United Methodist Church.

ADd to your pro-Israel list: 'The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints" aka "Mormons"

They are one of the staunchest defenders of Israel = they take the Biblical admonition literally: "1. Genesis 12:3 "And I will bless them that bless thee and curse him that curseth thee; and in thee shall all nations of the earth be blessed."

They are close allies of the Jewish peoples
