The Rasmussen Reports daily Presidential Tracking Poll for Sunday shows a two-man race for the Republican Presidential Nomination. John McCain and Mitt Romney are tied for the lead at 27% and no one else is close. Mike Huckabee is eleven points back at 16%, Rudy Giuliani is at 14%, and Ron Paul is supported by 6% of Likely Republican Primary Voters (see recent daily numbers).
New polling data released today shows Romney with a six point lead over McCain in Florida. But, the survey was conducted just before Governor Charlie Crist endorsed McCain and nearly one-in-four likely voters still might change their mind.
Looking ahead, McCain leads in New York, McCain and Giuliani are close in New Jersey, while McCain and Romney are close in California. Huckabee leads in Georgia, Huckabee and McCain are essentially tied in both Missouri and Alabama.
Voters now see Romney as the most electable, beating John McCain. Romney and McCain pull about the same amount of support in head to head match ups against both Clinton and Obama.
All of the Washington establishment endorsements for McCain is validating Romney's claim that he is the outsider and agent of change who wants to "fix Washington", and that McCain is the broken establishment's candidate. McCain's high profile endorsements from fatcat GOP Senators and open-borders governors like Florida's Governor Crist may do more to harm him than anything else.
Romney is starting to roll.
Poor McCain still hasn’t learned that praise from the MSM is lethal during a GOP primary.
Florida voters will be getting a quick good dose of McCain’s campaign “volunteer”, open borders Juan Hernandez, during the next few days.
I almost forgot to mention all of McCain’s endorsements from the New York Times and the liberal establishment media elite.
Romney is about to be poised to roll through Super-Tuesday as the Reaganesque outsider.
I think it was after the last debate, Chrissy Matthews was given Giuliani a hard time about not being the New York Times endorsee, something about it actually helped his conservative standing!. I can barely stand Chrissy Matthews and the TV was on in the background, but I think that was the gist of it.
If Romney wins FL he’s positioned rather well. If he wins CA, it’s over for McCain and Huck.
People are starting to figure out that McCain is our Hillary, and Romney is our Obama. (That makes Huckabee our Edwards.)
The GOP is going to make the right choice.
The Democrats, however, aren’t.
Yep, the endorsements from various Senators and other Big Gov’t functionaries is tantamount to throwing an anchor to a drowning man, IMO. McCain has as much trouble casting himself as some kind of Agent of Change as the Clintons do - A serious stretch of credulity.
ROFLMAO!! I love the tagline!
Thanks. : )
I thought about making it “Mike Huckabee isn’t the Religious Right, he’s the Religious Wrong”
But I figured people would get it, and short and sweet would have the right snap to it.
I could also make it “Mike Huckabee — He’s our John Edwards.”
“Romney and McCain pull about the same amount of support in head to head match ups against both Clinton and Obama.”
I wouldn’t usually comment at all on polls of hypothetical general election match-ups, as I don’t believe them to be at all relaible or useful, but seeing as you brought it up in such a completely inaccurate manner....
Your statement does not bear relation to any poll that I’ve seen, all of which show McCain in a statistical tie with either Obama or Clinton and Romney being comfortably beaten by either.
As we’re discussing A Rasmussen poll, we can look at Rasmussens latest on this from last Friday:
“Romney has always managed at least 40% support in match-ups with Clinton. With but two exceptions he slumps below 40% in his match-ups with Obama.
Separate polling shows that McCain currently matches up better with the leading Democrats than Romney.”
And, again, as Rasmussen also says “until the nominations are settled, all general election polling data should be viewed with caution”
I’m still voting Fred. Pretty boy, flip-flopper will never get my vote. Don’t care at this point which of those rinos get it!!!!!
yea, i’m very excited...
Romney has a slight lead over McCain in Florida according to my analysis:
Romney 26.78%
McCain 26.73%
Guiliani 16.76%
Huckabee 14.76%
Paul 4.15%
Undecided 10.82%
Agreed. Tge polling against Demos supports McCain, not Romney. But polls this early mean nothing, especially when no one in the GOP has started to run against the Demos.
