I’ll stand by my comment, thanks. My definition of “single issue” is “single issue,” not necessarily abortion. As for the rest of your post, you really went off on a toot.

I’ll take my chances with Romney over McCain, Hillary, or Obama.

> Romney/Steele

Wow, that’s the first time I’ve heard this vetted. This would be one powerful ticket, politically and ideologically. Let’s seed the clouds.

If you have to choose between Hillary/Obama or Romney what will you do?

The nomination of Mitt Romney, if it should occur, will signal the Republican Party’s demise

You sound like Rush, just a different candidate. Why should we surrender the entire GOP just because our opponents win a battle? Tip O’Neill was right: “All politics is local.” Even if we can't vote for Flip, we can use the bad taste to motivate us to greater efforts on every other level. Winning other important offices, right down to dog catcher, will ensure that future Flips are aborted before they even conceive the notion to run.

It's our duty to vote. If we hate what is going on, we sacrifice nothing but use every faculty and resource to ensure that such a diabolical choice is never presented again.

No. I won’t be part of a party that is led by a total deceiver like Mitt Romney. It would be a party in which principle and honesty mean nothing. And we already have one of those.

Worth posting again...

“Mitt Romney claims, “On every piece of legislation, I came down on the side of life.” “That is a lie,” said Curtis, former chairman of the Colorado Republican Party.”

>>Who ya gonna believe?

I myself have listened to Mitt. He was not my 1st or 2nd choice...but I have listened to his explanations of his changes, and watched how he has handled himself. <<

You make a good point. As Freepers are tempted to fight or criticize each other it is good to remember that many of us are now talking about who our third choice should be - of course they are imperfect and there are reasons they were not our first choice.

I happen to have a different third choice than you do but that is no reason for us attack each other - it would be so much better if we could just talk about what conservative priorities should be.

He sayshe's pro-life. He's running on that. As Coulter says, its gonna be hard to go back to the other side. I

Compared to McCain, Its a no-brainer that he is prefferable. Hucklebee is just too much of a lightweight onother issues.

He is very conservative and great on almost all the issues, except his foreign policy will result in us getting our heads cut off. Its only one issue though.

I think Ron Paul is a pacifist and he uses facetious moral equivalence arguments against our current offensive policy. Having said that, I don't believe in a foregone conclusion that his election would result in decapitating defeat for us against the Islamists. Our current policy includes socialistic nation building, the cost of which is advancing us toward bankruptcy. Can't we crush our enemies without imposing socialism on them at our expense? If, by some stretch of the imagination, the terrorists could invade our nation, our own armed citizenry would hang them and their sympathizers from the street lamps (after waterboarding them).

Like a victim of a bee sting, suffering from anaphylactic shock, we sometimes seem to be our own worst enemies, witness the Department of Homeland Security boondoggle.

If our nation is a war with God, then wars against other enemies or their methods cannot ultimately succeed.

If he wins the nomination, that does not make him the leader of the party.

If he wins the general election, that does not make him the leader of the party either.

Do you think that G. W. has ever lead the party? I don't! He always went along with the foolish GOP congress with nary a veto. When he tried to go against conservatives on amnesty, he got spanked.

If Romeny wins, I will refuse to be led by him. I will watch him like a hawk and fight at the grassroots level to undermine every liberal move. Please don't surrender the party, fight to keep it in spite of any setbacks. Regan's win came after Ford's loss. You don't have to vote for him or any other fool candidate. You should not compromise, but save the baby when you trash the bathwater.

Does it matter? Romney will be beaten by such a large margin, one vote will not matter. Hell, he might lose by historic margins. Maybe 2008 will finally be the end of the Eastern country club Republican establishment.

No. There are three things that are non-negotiable: The nominees for POTUS and VPOTUS, and the pro-life platform. Romney negates two of those, which makes the third utterly meaningless.

You’re kidding yourself if you think the President doesn’t have complete control of the party. He absolutely does. Which is why we are where we are. The Bush/Rove legacy is one of turning over all the power to completely unprincipled hacks.

This is a group set up in November of 2007 to attack Romney. That’s right, this group has a “history” of 2 months,

Yea like 80% of the the "Mitt is Great" posters on the Free Republic.

I feel like I am in Salt Lake City these days when I log on.

Assuming you’re saying Romney is preferable to McCain, I agree.

Romney Scores Big Pro-Life Endorsement

Pro-Life Leader James Bopp Endorsed Mitt Romney

Pro-Life founder of Heritage Foundation Endorses Mitt Romney

This sounds more like turf wars in the pro-life movement. Romney's conversion to the pro-life movement is probably genuine.
