Republicans are waking up to the fact that McCain is our Hillary, Romney is our Obama, and Huckabee is our Edwards. Just like the Democrat race, the GOP race has come down to the broken Washington establishment candidate vs. the outsider advocating change, with a southern populist spoiler who doesn’t know when to drop out thrown in.

Look at McCain’s list of endorsements.
It reads like a Who’s Who of everything that is wrong in Washington.
McCain is the broken Washington Establishment’s candidate.
He has all the endorsements from the pork-barrel Senate, the open-borders governors, and the New York Times and liberal establishment MSM.

Was the race really that much more lively when Fred was in?

The candidate who was falsely labeled by the media as the most “uninspiring” and “lackluster” was really the one driving the substance and soul of the debate.

Without Fred Thompson, the rest are free to dissolve into the amorphous goo of political gamesmanship. Fred Thompson's echo of true conservative principles has been left behind as they offer their shallow and pithy cooing to woo the masses.

Zzzzzzz.

Every race gets “boring” as the candidate field is pared down, especially when they’re as large as on the Democrat side in 2004 and our side now in 2008.

Besides, the race isn’t about excitement. It’s about the best candidate. Luckily for us, Romney has always been a fairly strong candidate.

We could be in far worse position here, folks.

Heck...I was on my way to bed when I saw your thread.

"Repeatedly, he emphasized that the only reason he saw to run was to raise issues that the other candidates were too timid to address."

If that is true, he accomplished his goal.

True. HA’s traffic has plummeted since Fred dropped out and discussions have become very weird. Not sure about FR traffic, but I think the fundraiser went from fairly quick to very slow after Fred.

do they get paid on the number of articles written or the content.

This one was not worth the ink. And the third one I’ve read this evening, but who’s counting ...

None of the current Republicans in the hunt for the nomination
come close to exciting the conservative base of the party.
Is this the freaking best we can come up with?
These guys would not even place in a dog show.

Watching Fred nap {yet again} was entertaining? He slept {figuratively and about virtually} during his committee hearings as chairman. That is when he was actually there. By the second week watch cars rust was more inviting. Fred was a ruse to stop Rudy and lock out Hunter as well. Mr Bush didn’t want no conservatives taking over da Whitehouse and messing up China & Saudi business deals the globalist had made. Rudy was too liberal for Bush if that is possible and Hunter or Paul is far too conservative for N.E. Rockefeller elitist like the Bush political family. Fred running a faux campaign and then dropping out makes certain either Liberal Mitt or Liberal John both globalist and Mexico/China/Saudi government/faux free trade friendly gets the GOP nod.

I didn’t know the Republicans were still running a candidate.

All I saw were the Democrat and the Democrat-Lite debates.

Although I think the “Fred could win a brokered convention” meme is impossible, I do wish other GOP voters could see that they lost their best candidate when Fred dropped out. Pearls before swine, I guess...

Fred was my choice.

There was a lot of long, hard work to do, but Fred ultimately decided to be the “last to arrive and the first to leave.” This is no winning formula for anything worth fighting for in life. And make no mistake, America is worth fighting for.

It didn’t seem to me his heart was ever really in the Presidential race. I wish him the best.

Without Thompson, A Boring GOP Field

This doesn't make any sense. They all said Fred had no fire in the belly now it's boring without him. What the heck?
