McCain is the perfect man to lose to Hillary or O’Bama. He’s just a Bob Dole who knows how to use the F- word when he’s in a pinch. I will enjoy watching him lose. He won’t get my vote, even if he were running against Hugo Chavez. A curse on the pragmatists in the party I grew up with. The people who vote for McCain aren’t really Americans.

Many religious conservatives want the marriage amendment passed. But McCain voted against it in 2004, when the Senate last voted on the measure. “[McCain] would be happy to appoint the likes of Chief Justice John Roberts to the Supreme Court. But he indicated he might draw the line on a Samuel Alito, because ‘he wore his conservatism on his sleeve.’”

McCain=Dole

Did Dole regard Republicans as enemies?

If McCain is elected President, I would imagine Democrats would approach him and ask him to use his power against conservatives in exchange for some small consideration. I wouldn't expect McCain would turn them down. Indeed, I suspect he'd be willing to do it for free.

There will never be another George Bush stupid enough to try.

Thank God for that!

As we’ve already seen happen, right? The repub party is no longer conservative, sadly. I don’t know what I can do but I do know that a huge part of this country won’t suck it up so I’m counting on them. I’d hate to see 4 years of hillary or obama or edwards but I think we’re getting hillary or obama.

It’s the debate moderators that will go nuclear on Mitt.

Have you seen him handle the confrontational interviews by the likes of Tim Russert? He has mastered the art of turning a snarky question into an answer that gives his position on something. He is the only one that I can see giving it to Billary without seeming nasty and thus being pilloried for being mean to a girl.

His popularity tanked when he wanted to open up the guest worker program.

And yet these are the same voters that voted in McCain.

I’m starting to think the Democrats care more about this issue than the Republicans, despite the party leadership over there.

The only point of comparison, hopefully, is that both of them will never be POTUS.

Although right now I'm not too optimistic on that score.

Do you have ANY reason to think McCain will be better on this issue than a dem?

I can only hope, I really don't know. At least there is a chance with McCrazy. I know what Shrillary will do, and she will do it especially to spite Obama's black base. Who knows what Obama will do? Out of the three, he might be the toughest on immigration because it hurts his base the most.

Part of what we’re dealing with now is that both parties ignored the problem until it became a huge issue. Ten years ago, border patrols could have been beefed up, a wall built, and immigration policies put in place that recognized the reality that a lot of employers and a lot of workers want to get together.

The idea is that people who would vote for Giuliani on Super Tuesday will now do so for McCain.

Nah. Huckabee does something like that and I think a lot will do write ins or go third party. There is a limit to compromising and some conservatives have just about reached it. Those that are reluctantly supporting Huckabee are loyal to country...not the man. I can’t see many switching to Romney, since they already looked at him and passed.

Bottom line: the GOP is going to have to have a candidate that appeals to moderate Democrats and Independents across the country to win.

Well, fine. Let's nominate Obama.

His popularity has been eroded by years of unanswered non-stop attacks. And the Media dutifully reported every one with no balance, no care for truth.

Build the fence and then find a way for them to carry ID and boot the criminals”

You will be happy to know that this week at the Mexican border there has been a change

Instead of just asking the driver of a car...Are you an American citizen ?? What about you passengers ??? The boder guards have to ask for American ID

News to me...I thought ID had been required all along but apparantly not

John McCain has proven with his victory tonight in Florida that Republican voters are not obsessed with immigration as the anti-immigrant jihadists would have us believe.

What a crock!
