Carter Leads Moderate Baptist Meeting
Associated Press ^ | 1-30-08 | Associated Press

Weary of Southern Baptists' dominance in American Protestantism, a new push is starting by other Baptist groups aimed at working on social justice issues, and showing their religious tradition is broader than the conservative SBC. Former President Jimmy Carter is leading the effort.[snip]

Yet the biggest Baptist names at the event are prominent Democrats. Along with Carter, major speakers include former Vice President Al Gore and former President Bill Clinton, who has played a leading and provocative role in the presidential race of his wife, Sen. Hillary Rodham Clinton.

Republican Sen. Charles Grassley of Iowa will also address the meeting. Former Arkansas Gov. Mike Huckabee, a Southern Baptist minister and GOP candidate for president, had agreed to participate, then canceled. Republican Sen. Lindsey Graham of South Carolina had been scheduled to speak, but instead will be campaigning with Republican presidential contender John McCain.

8 Also I heard the voice of the Lord, saying:

“ Whom shall I send,
And who will go for Us?”

Then I said, “Here am I! Send me.”
9 And He said, “Go, and tell this people:

‘ Keep on hearing, but do not understand;
Keep on seeing, but do not perceive.’
10 “ Make the heart of this people dull,
And their ears heavy,
And shut their eyes;
Lest they see with their eyes,
And hear with their ears,
And understand with their heart,
And return and be healed.”

When did this big government, man made global warming born again Christian shift happen?

We should have expected it:
For the time will come when men will not put up with sound doctrine. Instead, to suit their own desires, they will gather around them a great number of teachers to say what their itching ears want to hear. 2Timothy 4:3

lovers of pleasure rather than lovers of God— having a form of godliness but denying its power. Have nothing to do with them. 2Timothy 3:4,5

I know that after I leave, savage wolves will come in among you and will not spare the flock. Even from your own number men will arise and distort the truth in order to draw away disciples after them. Acts 20:29,30

Jimmah Carter wants to force me to tithe at his church of Paganism.

He thinks he can earn his way to be with his lord; the Evil One

We may just have to agree to disagree, but you can make doctrinal arguments for slavery and lots of other things as well. I can tell you first hand, we had some serious differences with SBC on autonomy - not just complaints, but real differences on where our missions dollars were spent. I know first hand.

Christ Himself said the ‘sign’ of His return would be ‘deception’..... Matthew 24, Mark 13, Luke 21....

Weary of Southern Baptists' dominance in American Protestantism a biblical world view, a new push is starting by other worldly Baptist groups aimed at working on social justice issues pandering to the left, and showing their religious tradition is broader than the conservative SBC walking in the flesh.

There. . .fixed it.

They’re not “moderates”....they’re liberals.

And we are to be “in” the world, not “of” it. The liberal “christians” have a strong desire to please the world, for some reason. I think it is a combination of guilt (maybe for past racism/having trust funds/etc.) and a strong need for acceptance from the world.

Let them form their own liberal Baptist group. They’re just committing suicide. Every single major denomination that has turned liberal...every single one...has declined, while more conservative churches have flourished. After JPII took over the Catholic Church, that faith grew as well.

Reminds me of another good book "Exodus: Why Americans are Fleeing LIberal Churches for conservative Christianity" by David Shiflett.

Just another ‘sign’ of the times—end times, of course.

... the fundamental message of Christianity is based on how the individual should lead their lives...

God intended, other than following the laws of the land in which we live, that we need follow no secular humanist's vision of how to worship God.

Those that call themselves 'progressive' are nothing but secular humanists who worship themselves in the mirrors....they're also referred to as politicians.

Jimmy is truly a secular humanist and a member of the 'world community.'

His presidency was one of the absolute worst in our history....and that's truly saying something.

He was a forgetable governor and a president most of us would gladly forget if it wasn't for what he caused during his miserable and utterly failed presidency.

Giving away the Panama Canal was only one small error of this moron, but it will come back to haunt us for eons. The Chinese now have control of the canal and if some misguided fool believes that those cargo containers hold merely Tinkertoys, he's sadly mistaken.

Thanks Jimmy for leading American on the road to ruin.
