Memo to Rick Santorum of Pennsylvania, Mike Pence of Indiana, and John Thune of South Dakota, and perhaps to Butch Otter of Idaho, too: It's time for you gentlemen to run for president.
Yes, of the United States. Yes, this year.
Here's the situation: Mainstream conservatives are being routed in this year's presidential contests. And if John McCain or, less likely, Mike Huckabee goes into the Republican National Convention in Minneapolis with a first-ballot majority, the conservative movement will be completely shut out of a general election presidential campaign for the first time since 1976. For the movement that has brought peace, triumph and prosperity, to this nation for 27 years, such an outcome would be a disaster---

Ronald Reagan was writing and giving speeches and growing into his conservatism since his union days in the late 40's. He may have come on the national political scene via "the speech" or in 76' depending upon how you look at it.
But who do we have intellectually to lead us that is that has been an author or on the speaking circuit?
Newt?, Rush? No one that has also been Governor.
If Romney writes and speaks for the next 4 years are really finds a conservative soul and voice" Maybe.
Santorum or Fred are the only 2 that come close the rest of the names forgetaboutit.
What if we get a Jimmah Carter for 8 years, or extremely worse ‘till death?
Everybody talks about Rush running (will never happen — he could have won Gov in FL as a hypothetical — before the drug thing — but not now).
You know who might just be able to run? Laura Ingraham.
I think that would definitely be true of McCain.
Hillary would be fought to a standstill.
Hillary will put some spine into Republicans in Congress.
