If the Conservative movement can't stop McCain now we are looking at 40 years of wandering in the wilderness. This is one idea and there should be others. Now is the time to come up with something or we are doomed.

I disagree. I really believe we let the process go where it’s going and leave it be. Let the sheeple elect a loser.

Where exactly did the conservative revolution and Ronald Reagan come from anyway, and how did it gain its power?

Two words - Jimmah Carter. As hard as it is to conceive, we need another Jimmah Carter as President for 4 years to enlighten the younger dolts out there as to what a liberal moron for President is like. Then, the conditions will be right for another coming of the conservative movement, only this time we need someone a little younger than before - perhaps a 50 year-old version of the Great One. Only this time, this new leader will have to pick up a stick and beat the RINOs out of the party. T’would be fun to watch.

The simple but sad reality is America is well-established as a nanny state and a majority of voters will not support a conservative in the general election.

Most voters DO NOT WANT TO HEAR they have to take charge of their own lives and stop looking for the government to fix everything and save them from themselves.

Look at all the people who hate George W. Bush for being SO CONSERVATIVE when he has signed into law VASTLY more non-defense government spending than Bill Clinton.

What the conservative press has had to say about Bush has been accurate. He has been good for liberals.

What the liberal press has sad about Bush, is partly childish tit-for-tat because of the way Clinton was mauled by the press (the ones that would anyway) and partly because he had an R after his name and making him out to be Hitler/Capone, riles up the Democrat base.

Sometimes in life we have to go through some bad times to appreciate the good. Think about it we had to go through:

Kennedy murder
Lyndon Johnson-he and Kennedy put us in Vietnam
Richard Nixon-big gov’t liberal; “watergate”
Gerald Ford-Washington insider, pro-choice
Jimmy Carter-FAILURE
ALL OF THAT TO GIVE US RONALD REAGAN.......

Maybe over 4 years someone will come out and communicate with America there beliefs. Remember “communicate” Republicans can’t do that very well.

Sometimes the bad stuff conditions us for the good.

My preacher the other Sunday gave a sermon and an example of some folk’s view of God is He’s standing at the top of the well encouraging us stuck at the bottom to climb up. “I know you can do it, come on! I’m here”. His view was that God comes down into the well to carry us out.

Afterwards I told him “And sometimes God is up at the top pouring buckets of water on our heads”.

He looked at me kinda funny and was quite like he was trying to figure out what I said. Then I said “Yeah - just like us when we’re at the bottom of the well and it feels like God is at the top pouring cold water on us and making it worse - until we realize that after awhile the well is now full of water and we’re at the top and can crawl out”.

Okay its late - but I liked my little thought. Maybe 4 years of a crummy democrat can get us out of this hole we’ve made. (Of course the hole will be filled with manure instead of water - but the same principle!).

It won’t be fun.

So we need another Jimmy Carter and Bill Clinton to give us Iranian Mullahs, Ruth Bader Ginsberg, Malaise, 20% Interest Rates, 10% Inflation, Higher Taxes, Weakened Military, and Rigged Elections? I think you are being optimistic about electing another Reagan after 4 or 8 years of Hillary or Obama. Give them that length of time and the electoral process will be so crooked we’ll never win another election.

Some of you have given up. You’re defeatists.

I've heard that before, but had forgotten it ... thanx for the reminder.

BTW ... that's why I go to church ... to learn ... and to be reminded.

Not to make this a religious thread, but ... if more people got under some good, biblical preaching regularly, I don't think we'd have so much confusion about what a leader should be, and how we should think in considering someone for high office(s).

OK ... now back to our program ....

Realpolotik Check:

If Mitt wins enough delegates and a brokered convention becomes unnecessary, there is a good chance the “broken-glass” conservatives will not only make him president but still manage to maintain a good number of congressional seats.

If McCain wins the nomination,he will lose in November and lose badly. The GOP will lose so many seats on Capital Hill from the disgusted stay home conservatives, the Blue Dog Democrats elected in 2006 will be stripped of any power and then face more liberal primary challengers with party support (what a bunch of suckers) AND Pres.Clinton/Obama will have a pliant congress where the opposition won’t even have the votes to mount a filibuster.Thankfully, most of the old poots in the SCOTUS are liberals so a single term Democrat pres shouldn’t effect the current balance.

That’s the crux-a one term Dem pres. Here’s how we rescue America, first in 2010 then in 2012.
The remaining GOP congressmen need to re-organize and create a conservatives only caucas in the House and a Junta in the Senate then eshew associating with RINOs.By working closely with the growing conservative New Media, these moves can work.By banding together in this manner,2012 can be another 1994.
Next, the GOP needs a legal SWAT team consisting of the best legal minds availiable. This way,if the Dems cram through a law say, making bullets illegal,we can fast track litigation to SCOTUS in order to test it’s constitutional bona fides. This may protect us from the “Fairness Doctrine” as well (even if McCain won,he hate’s Rush so much he would re-instate the FD as well).

Of course all of the above are but band-aids and in the end futile if we don’t find another RR.

“By banding together in this manner,2012 can be another 1994.”

I meant 2010—not 2012

By working closely with the growing conservative New Media

Which will be strangled in the crib by a Democrat White House and Congress.

Reagan’s first mistake was picking George H W Bush as his VP. He needed to pick a Reaganite to carry on after him. Instead, we got 2 generations of “compassionate conservatism”. The first generation gave us 8 years of Clinton, we don’t yet know what the second generation is going to give us.

Sometimes you can afford to let nature take its course. Sometimes you can't. I think this is not 1976 America and the patient is too sick to endure the natural outcome of 2008, as it stands now.

Blatant crushing of political dissent in such a country as America would make the Dems national pariahs. They would lose Capital Hill in 2010 by record landslides and may never recover. For instance,Rush would be more powerful as a patriot martyr than he ever was as a broadcaster.
The Dems will have to be sneaky and subtle—and that takes time.

“Republican National Convention in Minneapolis”

The site of the convention should have been our first clue.

The ideas expressed in this piece represent our last best hope to have the voice of the conservatives in this country heard. I would hope that FReepers consider this writer’s points and circulate them quickly and to all who might agree.

Four years of McCain or Hillary equals amnesty for all illegals (past and future), unbridled immigration (legal and illegal), and rafts of new liberal judges serving lifetime appointments. Eventually socialism might reach a tipping point in our country and I fear that this may be it.

The GOP needs a brokered convention in 2008

I'll go for any way to stop McCain from getting the nomination. He needs to be stopped. Take care of the other whackjobs and RINOs later.

Who Hijacked the Primaries?
