McCain has the liberty to have said whatever he wanted about his former captors.
Even if it’s true, he’s earned the right to say it. He gets a pass from me.
The probability is that McCain will lose the general election. There are tens of millions of conservaties who will not vote for him. His nomination will probably destroy the Republican Party. And if he actually wins the general election, the destruction of the GOP will be a certainty, since the coalition will be irrevocably split asunder.

McCain is an American hero, he is one that survived, he is one that made it back, he is one that left some of his soul behind, he is one with REAL and up close and personal memories of HELL..... and HE has earned his right, he has bled for the right and he has suffered the real pain, to say any damn thing he wants to about those targets and that hell hole, period.

I don’t mind McCain calling his former captors gooks. But I don’t mind the topic being brought up. In fact I’d like to see more of this. I want this short fused, angry short man to publically blow up for our viewing pleasure.

Don’t you just love the MSM and how they phrase things! My Mom used to tell me I could ‘make a silk purse out of a sow’s ear’. I know it was not original with her, I thought it came from the Bible, like not casting your pearls before swine, but turns out it’s Shakespeare. Not surprising.
The MSM must have an online service that lets writers find susprelatives to be used when describing anything McCain does or says.
I had to have a name for my company, such as it was, years ago so I decided on “Sow’s Ear Productions”. I have used it now for well over 20 years and I get asked about it frequently. I love explaining how my Mom delighted in encouraging me when I was a kid. No matter how badly I did in something she could always find something nice to say, often involving sow’s ears!
Anyway, I love to see how the MSM can always find a way to make anything about McCain bigger if it’s good and smaller if it’s bad!
